Pretty obvious that sort of thing goes on – if you use e-bay properly then it shouldn’t affect you.

Eh… how do you work that out ?

If your bidding on something, and Mr Shiller bids it up so you have to bid higher, surely your out of pocket more than you need to ?

Even if you snipe it at the end, your still paying a higher price (dictated by the shill bidder) than the oridinary bidders would have bid for it.

I did notice this contradiction though….

Last November eBay changed its rules to conceal biddersโ€™ identity โ€” making it even more difficult for customers to see whether sellers are bidding on their own lots…….

[and]…..Anyone caught shill bidding risks a permanent ban….

[and]…..The spokesman added: โ€œThe change to the way bidder IDs are shown has already resulted in a safer environment for users.โ€

Actually, i summise that shill bidding is actually not so frowned upon by eBay. In a well known recent example involving an aircraft gauge, the vendor only received a 2 week slap on the wrist.

Now any item over ยฃ100 does not reveal the bidder ID’s (except the winner) this is good for eBay, and people can’t report it so much on high value items, therefore by default, eBay make even more money in final sale fee’s. ๐Ÿ˜ก

On behalf of a friend, does anyone know of a source of Shar items, other than Dick Everett who has not got the required items at the moment.
Wanted items include an engine, one cold nozzle and 2 hot nozzles, any help would be gratefully received to restore the aircraft to display standard.

Try Wyvern Waste for all the ‘scrap’ from Yeovilton, Phil Earthey did have a set of nozzles for sale, or you could try the deck handling school at Culdrose (PM me for the guys contact details and Ext’ number)

    Cheers……..

Thats great news. Potentially 2 more complete Sea Hawks.

    Robert,

How did you arrive at that conclusion ?

There was WV903 and XE339, plus the nose of WV838, equals 2.5 Seahawks.

Now there is WV903, and the WV838/XE339 combo, plus the nose of XE339, which still equals 2.5 Seahawks

Except 339….. …..Logically the person who wanted the cockpit, and the person who wanted a complete A/C, should both be able to have what they want without separating an entire airframe, when one has already been cut.

    Stuart,

I tend to agree. Could the potential Seahawk cockpit owner not have purchased WV838 ? Instead you now have a situation where a composite airframe will be created, from an airframe that was intact, but now is reduced to a nose only. (this’ll confuse W&R contributors for a while ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Dave, on saying that was there any other parts or sections from the cockpit in the yard?

No other avaition related items apart from a manky Mk2 ejection seat, an unknown jet engine, and the wheels/tyres from the Shack’.

They only kept the nose this long because at the time they also acquired/scrapped the one-off Shorts SC-9 XH132, and the interest generated by it’s cockpit section and subsequent sale to an Italian collector for a hefty sum, meant they thought that it could be profitable [ala Vulcan XL391].

Any news on that Varsity cockpit (WL627 ?) in the Hull area….?

    Robert,

No 50mph winds here, they are currently gusting at 70mph ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    Peter,

I’m afraid that’s how it comes, as neadorthol man has little or no knowledge of transport joints etc… they just cut ’em up to suit their transport back to their yard without getting involved in regulations (eg: anything over 9ft 6″ is a wide load)

    Cheers……. ๐Ÿ˜‰
