The ‘wreckage’ of the 109 was still present in the field until quite recently, as I have flown over it on a number of occasions. Think it was removed as it was always been reported to local ATC as a crashed aircraft.

Thats great news… Can you tell us, what sort of condition is she in? Are you able to post some photos of her next time you ‘down the field’?
Wont be until next weekend. Went flying yesterday and walked around to the hangars and there she was sat on the grass. Sort of remembered which one it was, but had to ask just to make sure.
All of the airframe has been stripped of its fabric and covered with metal plates. Holes have been drilled through the frame so that the metal is held in place. Same goes for the wings. Will I think only be used as a source of spares for other rebuilds.

All being well, the Drover has found an appropriate home.

Good news indeed. The AOP9 has also found an appropriate home with another 6 of the breed already resident!

The James May Spitfire was not built in China…….but in Cornwall, by Gateguards Ltd who have already built a number of replicas for Museums and Film/TV work.

Learn’t to fly Sedburgs and Cadet MkIIIs early 70s here via 40F squadron Maidstone. Saw many of the Airshows here also.
This was the one with a commemoration teddy bear was stuck on all the participants, I believe after a fellow pilot had been killed in a Harvard earlier in the year??
Ted White was killed in Harvard Mk.III G-ELLY which crashed in Malta on 22 June 1982. The starboard inner engine of Sally B is painted in a yellow and black chequer pattern (same as the Harvard’s cowling) as a memorial to Mr White.

The last a/c movement I was aware of was an AAC lynx. Do you know when the Harvard flew out?
I don’t I’m afraid, but remember that it was rebuilt there and had special permission to take off and depart when the restoration was completed. Looking back through my own logbooks (I didnt get my first ride in it until August 1993), I would have presumed it was late 1992 as it was registered to its first owners and rebuilders (Peter Monk and Andrew Savage) in July 1992.

Harvard Mk.4 G-BUKY was the last aeroplane to fly out of the airfield.

I dont know what to say….I was dreading reading more and more of this thread and now have seen something that I didnt want to.
I knew Peter quite well and even last week we were discussing the possibility of adding a few more types to his ‘logbook’. We had missed each other the other day at Eggesford as I was in France with the Broussard, but I received an email last Thursday saying that he had booked a Nord NC854 on Sunday.
My sincerest thoughts and best wishes go to the family and friends of both persons involved.

And the American Team are practising at Dunkeswell in Devon.

And did you get back about 8pm Sunday night by chance ?
.
Little bit earlier, but that was us….I did try to figure out which house was yours as we went over!

I’ve just spent a week touring Scotland in an Auster and had a wonderful time. They may be boring to some, but they play an important part of our aviation heritage and besides being a major contributor to the postwar civilian market, have seen military action in WW2, Korea, Aden, Malaya, Borneo etc etc.
Each to their own of course, but there is something about them, that makes them that little bit unique!!
Martin
I should be turning up tomorrow afternoon in the Broussard with two Austers following behind. Weather forecast earlier today looked fine for tomorrow, but now things are not looking very nice at all.
Just hope that the forecasters have got it all wrong! 🙂
Best wishes,
Martin
Tuesday doesnt look much better….especially the afternoon when we are meant to arrive. We’ll just have to see how things go. May have to leave earlier tomorrow than planned.

I havent been to Culdrose for years, but this year will hopefully be arriving on Tuesday night and departing after the display has finished the following day.
Just checked metcheck and its looking quite good – showers in the morning and then getting better as the day progresses.
