Good to hear, no doubt it’s a top class restoration and a great addition to the Eggesford Auster fleet, looking forward to seeing the photos
After the test flying has been completed, she’s leaving us for a new home in the South East.

Thanks Rob – just to say that I wont be around that often in the weeks ahead as still have soooo much to do and organise.
Had a little look on the net just now and came across this, which talks about the rebuild of G-CTKL, the MK.IIB which started me all off in the warbird world in the ’80s. No mention at all is made to my contributions and work towards the colour scheme and it seems that MAPS know all about Harvard schemes, so I suggest that they would be the best people to ask!!

I have a number of P-2 documents at home but nothing on that scale. From what I remember ARC at Duxford look/used to after a P-2 there. Perhaps they might be willing to assist. Good Luck with your enquiries.

My Dad had/has a number of Harvard canopy sections in his garden that he used to cover his plants with. All the perspex has gone white with age, but they make a good talking subject.

I have the sheets for lettering and sizes at home. If you can wait a day or two, I’ll nip home and scan the relevant sheets (Dad and me live in the same village…well it is Cornwall 🙂 )
Happy Landings,

Cheers,
There was quite a lot of discussion with MAPS and myself when I came up with the new colour scheme. I think I have kept all of the correspondence, so when home will dig it out.
Phew, well it is so different here at Dad’s at the moment, I just dont what to say. You certainly know who your friends are at times like these and I never ever knew so much had to be done and organised. Least coming here gives me a kind of mental break from it all. I appreciate everyone’s kind comments.
Best wishes,
Martin
Thanks chaps for your kind comments – so much appreciated.
As to KL I dont hold any of the details myself now and MAPS and the fellows on here will be the better options. I’m not currently at home and will be staying with my Dad for the next couple of weeks, so wont be able to assist further until then. Hope thats ok?
Best wishes to all,
Martin
Benno,
I did the scheme for G-CTKL when it was recently repainted to represent FE788 at Boscombe Down in 1944. I do have a number of period photos both Dutch and RAF that might assist too.
Only problem at the moment is that my Mum passed away a day ago and so at this present time I am really not in a position to assist. Perhaps in a day or two, I might be able to get my head around other things – I’m surprised in a way that I’m here!!
MAPS at Rochester did the painting and the stencilling of KL, so perhaps they still hold the reference material?
Best wishes to all,
Martin
70th Birthday of the North American Harvard.

A brand new pair of cold weather flying trousers…..been after a pair for ages!!…plus on Boxing Day my 250th type flown a Diamond DA40 Star. Much better than watching the repeats on TV.
Best wishes to all,
Martin
I, but I seem to hoard them rather then build them. I always think ‘umm perhaps I’ll sit down and make something’ and then find I come home with something new to add to the pile. Think this is the same with a lot of people.

I have a Cessna 150 left hand door (G-BFLM) which is the door through which I had my first flight in 1983.
And lots of Harvard bits and pieces – mostly ex-Italian Air Force Mk.IIB parts (from the ones that came over in the early 1980s). Dad has some canopies which he uses as cloches in his garden!

Reap The Wild Wind had a great video, had a quick scan of the WWW but couldn’t find it, Spits and old newsreel footage…. they don’t make ’em like that any more:(
And they dont make bands like that either!! (Always be my favourite). RTWW was filmed at Booker and on the South coast using the then Patrick Lindsay Spitfire and if I remember rightly a Sopwith triplane replica too.

Paul F, is the Auster from Eaglescott? Theres an Auster outfit there (my mate had afantastic trip with them), and was a Rapide there.
edit, oops Ive been beaten to it!
The airfield is EGGESFORD near Okehampton which is rapidly becoming my second home. The Rapide was based at Eaglescott (which is about six miles to the North) and is now at Coventry with Air Atlantique.
Eggesford hosts the largest collection of airworthy Austers in the UK with 4 Auster AOP.9s, Mk.III, Mk.6, Alpine, 2 Autocrats, Autocar, Aiglet Trainer and 3 Beagle Terriers. Others include the Chrislea SkyJeep, 2 Chipmunks, Luton Minor and Phoenix Duet and a Max Holste Broussard.
If you are interested in vintage aeroplanes, you will find a warm welcome at Eggesford.
