Having a soft spot for the Yak-11, I try to buy all that I can and last weekend at the model show at Yeovilton bought for the pricely sum of £1 a Polish publication on the Yak-11. This from what I can remember has Soviet profiles in it.

And here’s my bundle of joy, Auster J1 G-AJPZ (certainly impresses people telling them I have a plane – as long as I don’t show them a photo of it!)
Would also like to say thanks to Martin Pengelley (T6flyer) and subsequently everyone else i’ve met or spoke to about Austers, especially Richard Webber, for giving me the chance to fly in (and fly all except the AOP 6) plenty of Austers
Aw….shucks……how nice. No seriously, its all been fun and the more young people we introduce to our hobbies and interests the better.
Richard is still away in America and it looks like we’ll be having two more 9s soon. That will make 7 in total!!
I’m probably wrong here (I normally am) but wasnt G-AJPZ the Auster used by Christopher Draper in his second attempt in 1953 to fly under the Thames bridges?
Best wishes to all,
Martin
Nice to see the old Haig-Thomas Avenger out and about again!

I know that any AI traffic can be a killer on the old frame rates and perhaps its just the same for all of us. I’m running FS2004 on an 2.8gig Sempron, with 1gig ram and a Radeon 7800GTO card. With traffic set at about 25%, I get frame rates of about 25 and slowing down to about 10-16 with a busy airfield.
I dont take out the panels, is it worth doing?
Most of my virtual skies are populated with Mr Ito’s creations and to originate the flightplans I use FSTraffic 2005.
Hope this helps.

Too small for a T-28, I go along with it being a T-34.
In ’98 on a trip to the States, I was lucky enough to fly in both types, but cant remember that much about the 34. I knew I had to climb up the side of the T-28, for its such a big beast. It doesnt help matters when you’re scared of heights!

Looking at the exhaust and the canopy (together with the rear mast) I’d say it was a MK.IIB. I’ve seen other photos (cant remember where) showing IIBs in South Korean colours.
But as to identities I know nothing……..
Martin
Suppose my identity gives it away…..anything Harvard…….gave my Dad some lovely Mk.IIB cloches for his garden a few years ago!!

Thanks Tim for your help. Sounds very interesting to say the least. SO…..the current airframe is then built from the old frame (18-8482) of G-BVMI? (My brain hurts trying to work it all out:)).
I did have the same problem a few years ago when trying to work out the history of G-AYPO, a L-18C which was rebuilt using the frame of another L-18C when the original was too damaged to rebuild. THEN…..a few years later the original frame was incorporated into another UK based Cub!
Think I’ll stick to Harvard histories!
Again thanks very much.
Best wishes,
Martin
Thanks so much for the HU. Will go and have a look. Be nice to have something on the sim, that I’ve flown in 🙂

Thanks gentlemen for your input. I’ll keep everyone up to date if anything else emerges from rumour control (South West) Branch!
Best wishes,

Useless fact – SV was the first Dakota I flew in 🙂
I’ve mentioned it before, but never got around to buying one. I know I wont regret it, but I’ve been doing too much of the real thing recently to warrant purchasing it.
What with the nights drawing in now, I know it wont be long. I’ve never ever seen a bad review of it. It has to be a must have.
Best wishes,
Martin
Surprise, suprise I havent heard a thing from Revell. Will have to send a letter now. I’m not going to let them get away with it! 🙂
One of the modelling magazines is also taking up the subject.

Here, here (or it that hear hear). Whatever, I really did enjoy myself and look forward to next year.
