I cant go, but have arranged for Mr Langham to have a ride in an Auster.
Hope it all goes well.

My copy arrived yesterday and I’m very very impressed!!
Brings back a lot of memories of being at North Weald and shows a lot of people that I’ve flown with in the past, or aeroplanes that I’ve been lucky enough to have planted my backside in. Notice in the 1996 DVD that I’m in the back of Mr Numan’s Harvard. Fame at last!!
So, if you havent got one, now’s your chance.
Thanks Steve – much appreciated.

I took the “SNJ-5” from the markings on the rudder. I’m not that well up on Texan marks to know many differences!

There are so so many variation on the theme it would take ages to try and explain them all. To most people they are either T-6s or Harvards and at times its best left that way Its only T-6 anoraks like myself that seem to note things in detail. I must try and get out more!!
I was involved with the markings of the aeroplane and it was intended to have an overall blue scheme as this was the owner’s wish. All 1945 frontline types were in these colours, but it was very difficult to find a SNJ in this scheme. in the end I found documentation that showed one particular SNJ-5 that was trialled overall blue and this together with other photos and information was used as a basis for what you see today. The serial number is taken from the aeroplane’s previous FAA registration minus the N and the G.

No “probably” about it.
Who else could offer you hints and tips on the optimum position for your flaps and speed brakes as you taxi in? They should give him an honorary pilots licence.
I 100% agree – what a man!! Does he never take a day off work?
Now I know John does read our messages as he told me all about the forum in the past, so watch out Mr. Walter, I may be returning to the Weald in the near future!

The ‘SNJ’ is really a T-6G and lives at Shoreham. I believe she was up there doing pleasure flights. As TexanTomcat said the aircraft was previously G-BHTH.

Spot on!
Umm perhaps I need to get out a little more 🙂

Eddie,
Interesting scheme on the latter Spitfire. I believe that was devised for the 1950 Farnborough display where the Amiens prison raid was re-enacted. I may be wrong.
