Martin, I have two points to make here.
1) you have already proved you’re nuts by staying on this forum for a month.
2)It is the best place on the net followed by Neil Aird’s dhc-2.com. A wonderful site for Beaver nuts.
Regards and Seasons Greetings
Mike
Umm might have to take a look at that site as have flown in a number of Beavers including C-FOBT the 2nd one built and I believe the world’s oldest airworthy example (no puns please).
People say there is a vermillon coloured Beaver living at Popham. I’ll have to keep an eye open for that in the New Year 🙂
Martin
If it has to be from that list I wouldn’t bother
From the list….the Provost….a lovely aeroplane to fly (only had two P2 flights in one (and thats up for sale at Shoreham). So come on 6…15…22…33..41..47…
Martin
Remember those Auster flights next year too……
.
nah Martin you meant…
1. HARVARD II
2. HARVARD III
3. HARVARD IV
4. T-6D
5. T-6F
6. T-6G
7. SNJ 2 ….etc 😀
Ok, you’re right, but I cant just list Harvards people will think I’m nuts (please don’t tell anyone, ok?).
Still think they would be in that order and then a MK.IIA or III and a SNJ-2 (akin HVD Mk.I), a Yale (not sure what they look like) and a Ceres to make things a little different.
Best wishes to you and everyone else. I’ve only been here for just over a month and regret not joining earlier. Its the best place on the net.
Martin
I’m not biting the bait (much).
Hey T6Flyer! Where do you keep your Chipmunk? Ever had tail shimmy?
Its not mine, but belongs to a friend (I just go along for the ride and for added ballast) and it lives at Eggesford in Devon along with another one and lots and lots of Austers.
Martin
[QUOTE=Airofoil]If the numbers came up which one from the following would you buy and why:
1 Fouga Magister
2 Piston Provost
3 Jet Provost
4 SAAB Safir
5 D.H.Tiger Moth
6 D.H.Chipmunk
7 L-39
From the list I would pick the Provost first as being one of the nicest aeroplanes I’ve ever had the chance to fly in and then the Chipmunk.
But if it was anything else would be an Auster Mk.9 (another nice aeroplane), a Stearman and either a Harvard Mk.IIB or a T-6F/SNJ-6.
Martin
I’m still cold today…… 🙂
Have to remember to wear more clothes next time.
Martin
Yep thats our baby –
heres a model of what she looked like in the film (I would post a screen shot but EOTS hasnt been released as a region 2 dvd yet so i cant do a screen grab)
TT
Umm now I thought I had seen it in the shops (but then again probably had my head in the clouds as usual). Just checked and its not available until 6 March 2006.
Martin
I’ve flown one of those. 🙂
Nice, if a bit underpowered.
Moggy
I had a P2 flight in one once. I agree with you about it being underpowered and a twin with four seats? Not really worth it is it?
Dont think there are many on the UK register though.
Martin
The Hangar 11 Staggerwing has a UK military history anyway IIRC. If not UK then US mil…
If it does go back into Military Colours, I think it would be nice if it wore the scheme it had when at Donibristle. As all Fighter Collection aircraft are in very authentic schemes, perhaps this will happen. Who knows…..
Martin
Nice looking airyplanes though….
Anymore F-24 airframes I’ve missed (probably)
TT
There is an Argus nearing completion to airworthy condition on a farm in North Devon. Gentleman that owns it has one of those ex-Israeli Air Force Super Cubs that are being advertised at the moment in Aeromart.
Martin
I have at home a lot of Auster magazines which are due for collection by the dustman on Wednesday (need a pre Christmas chuck out to make room for the books I’ve bought myself), so will have a look for photos of the Auster concerned. I know it pops up in a few issues.
Martin
Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 757.
Thanks, was just wondering what it was:)
Martin
Thought that Exeter was bad for stored airliners. Think that the 747 in the photo is missing two engines. Lots of Bae146s there too.
Martin
Would you happen to own a Yak-18?
Neil
Umm no, thats Martin Robinson you are thinking about. Also has in partnership the prototype Auster AOP.9 WZ662 (G-BKVK) which is currently up for sale.
Best wishes,
Martin Pengelly
