Thank you. Its taken nine months of sheer hard work by three of the aeroplane’s owners to see her in the colour scheme she wears now. Stripping took a few months and then all the painting was done outside on the few odd days that we call our Summer. We have to thank a lot of people notable nearly every French Historic Aircraft Restoration Organisation there is, as details on the aeroplane’s history were shall we say a little difficult to locate. Due to everyone’s hard work and enthusiasm, the Broussard is now correctly back in her original markings. All we need to do now is ask the French authorities for permission to fly her in the new colours (we dont see that being a great problem) and then obtain a new C of A. Next year the plan is to take the aeroplane to as many fly-ins as possible and then to France to see if your fellow countrymen think that we have done a authentic restoration. We hope everyone says ‘Oui’.

As far as I can gather G-AREI is the only airworthy example in this country.

I suppose I should have done the same then….but I’m using as my excuse….that its only my second day here and it may take me a little while to get used to how things operate.

    Happy Landings,

I remember reading in an old copy of the NATA magazine that someone in the States had bought one of the Turbo Firecrackers, but never have heard of it since.

Cessna 150 G-BFLM – 12 February 1983 at Bodmin in Cornwall. Years later the aircraft sadly had a little accident and was broken up for spares. I was presented with the door I opened all those years before and now it sits in my dining room. Makes a great conversation piece at parties!! (Sad I know)

Umm, taking my courage in my hands and now trying to upload a photo taken of Auster Mk.III G-AREI last month. If this doesnt work, I apologise and will try later.

I have to admit that this is my first ever message to the Forum, so here goes. Based near me is Auster Mk.III G-AREI. When I was a young lad (long time ago now) I had a part time job at my local airfield cleaning aeroplanes etc (pseudo hangar rat) and upon my first day there, I spied this aeroplane in military markings in the hangar and thought wow. 22 years later and having been involved since then with aviation ever since, I managed to get a flight in the same aeroplane, that being G-AREI. It truly was a memorable experience. Now, I do have a lot of photos of her, but havent a clue on how to post them, so perhaps given a little bit of time (and patience), I’ll get around to posting them here.

    Best wishes and happy landings,

    Martin
