Having just moved I have lost track of the thread I started about SIMONS SIRCUS,the thread gained more momentum and I believe two of the team have contacted it ,ROLY BEAUMONT and MARK JENKINS ,am I right? I was your plane captain on 313 with ALEC STEWART the pilot,have you got the photo of all us standing alongside 313 ? I have,BEST WISHES MARTIN JONES
SWORDFISH PEGASUS RADIAL
Hi did you read the thread on SIMONS SIRCUS,we got around to the swordfish via pete sheppards name, I was on HISTORIC FLIGHT in 1974 and rebuilt the fish engine, as I said it took 3 weeks just to grind the valves remember the head is attached to the barrel so access was difficult.It did start 1st time,I worked closely with JOHN DAINES BRISTOL AIRPLANE CO,I joked he built the machines that built the engines,1 st time around.Wonderful times in the F.A.A, MARTIN JONES POAF A/E

Sorry the blow my own trumpet,but I rebuilt the fish engine in 1975 very proud man am I,probably rebuilt several times since then,3 weeks just to grind the valves in by hand,did I have fun,the spares situation was dire hate to think of the trouble now 30 years on,it started 1st time!!!! MARTIN J
SIMONS SIRCUS
YOU guessed it,I spoke to him today, thurs,he was my boss several times and I have tremendous respect for his piloting skills and as a friend, it was an excuse I could not pass up,I have flown with him and looped the loop,great fun!!!! MARTIN J

ALBERT all is revealed,the name FRED came from the team led by L/C REYNOLDS joking in the crew room that they were like FRED KARNOS CIRCUS,and having five a/c in the team the team name was born.{from reputable source my boss VIXEN / FURY/SWORDFISH display pilot}
I can reveal the SEA VIXEN WAS A SUPERSONIC aircraft in a shallow dive,and if people want to take the ROY CROPPER anorack approach to whether it is in level or diving, the fact remains it could still go supersonic.[source as above] MARTIN J
SIMONS SIRCUS
MR ALBERT,DO you really want photos of he ground crew P—ed in MOMBASA enjoying ourselves with the boss overseeing it and young men posing by their aircraft in uniform,strange fellow!!! been trying to find out FRED and PB REYNOLDS was L/Commander in the team so I think he led it,still will dig??
SIMONS SIRCUS
The comment was one that it was always referred to as a supersonic jet,I was only trying to say that such a complex aircraft is not common place,like the usual round of spits/hurricanes,it was not to establish the nenth degree of technical details,the matt finish night fighter mosquito was a few knots slower at top speed,so a polished 110 might just do it,also the earth is curved so part of the flight IS downhill.
WHICH LENS
Thanks for the web guide I used to have http://www.F1 WORLD GRAND PRIX.COM,my daughter is top web designer in LONDON,but the merchandise was not too successful so we aborted,she does not have the time to do me another,and remember I am an amateur at photograpy,a free one sounds good,? MARTIN J
