    WHAT LENS

HI,sorry for the response delay, just joined,I use a 20d just upgraded from 300d, I bought a 170-500 sigma some time ago and it really is good,I also splashed out on the new 135-400 IS sigma, which gives good results, the real key is to use a fluid head tripod mine is velbon then use panning technique, you could always have cable release to prevent shake.
There is another route,PANASONIC have a 5 mp fz20 with is built in IS and with the converter gives a 600 mm lens at a fraction of the cost of an 600 mm is lens, my mates 600 IS CANON cost £5000, the camera and lens by PANASONIC is £700,I have one and find it easier to use than a great piece of equipment sometimes.MARTIN J

FRED was the CO of 766 sqdn I believe,I joined them in 1966,they had already demo`d at airshows,I think I am right in saying when SIMON IDIENS was tasked with sorting out a display he used some of FREDS routine.I MUST pay tribute to JOHN DERRY my hero who perished at FARNBOROUGH he was so instrumental in pushing the DH 110 through development and a true unsung hero. Hi all those that responded,MISGUIDED,not really a sane comment considering the operating cost,we must remember the original scheme would be great but who would pay for a non return on their investment just to have an involvement without some rerturn, may be your pockets are deep enough to have the original without any connection to yourself.Mclaren aren`t all black/silver without some sponsor on the car.
SEAFURYFAN,raymond baxter said on tv that the red arrows arrived at FARNBOROUGH in MGBs,to show the weight difference with the gnat v vixen our pilots should arrive in LONDON Double decker buses, the weight of the vixen is 22 tons!!!!.As for formation I believe the flying controls were a handful but the rear stab allowed a better rate of turn than the replacement PHANTOM.As for the fuel system, the booster pumps in the wings were fun to do with all that PRC sealant. If you want serious fun try judging where the aircraft will stop when catching the arrestor wire, run to it when stopped an put a wooden bung in the fuel dump tube in the stbd wing before it folded its wing then taxing to fly 1,my job on flt deck party.

Hi MOGGY,as you will be aware to put a supersonic jet into private hands required a great deal of effort,up to concorde being on the british register only two supersonic aircraft had this claim, the vixen being the second,we would all love classic jets displaying,so I guess the livery in the form of support has to be excepted,I would love the aerobatic markings of our squadron, but who would pay.I have signed large print with BRIAN GRANTS signature above this computer and in RED BULL colours,it still does not detract from the dramic presence in the air.I feel we must accept support as long as it is not too garish. You must be aware it does not display too often due to the cost.MARTIN J
