Be around Sat pm and for the dinner, then working Sunday am. Yes, let’s hang in there for fine w/x!!
G’day 😉
Reminiscent of the late Charles E. Brown in a couple of those. Very nice! 😀
G’day 😉
Looked great from the 27th Floor of our hotel!! The poppy drop was a very fitting finale to a formation series which might be hard to repeat!! 😀 😀
Mind you, a fellow observer stating to his kids that the DH-89’s were WWI was a bit much!
Viva BBMF 🙂
G’day 😉
I think it’s excellent! 😀
Living so far away, it’s great to be able to stay in tune [when combined with WIX] with the action around the world. My job allows me regular UK visits, but you can’t make EVERY airshow. The photographers who contiribute are world-beaters and really put the icing on the cake.
Keep up the good work!!
G’day 😉
Septic,
There are 3 Drovers on the register in Oz. Charlie’s [seen here] is the only commercial ops one flying, another is under restoration in SA for a Vic owner and the other is owned by Hawker De Havilland [Boeing] & operated by HARS. There are some good shots around of the two current flyers at Bathurst.
Amazingly enough, all three are powered by Gipsy engines [10 Mk2; described as “three Chipminks in close formation!”]. None of the Lycoming Mark 3’s fly or look like doing so ever.
G’day 😉
Old designation = P2V-5/7
New designation = SP2-E/H
The P2V-5 didn’t have the aux jets in the early days AFAIK.
G’day 😉
Melvyn,
Best of luck tomorrow.
G’day 😉
She resides happily as flagship of the HARS collection at Illawarra Regional Airport, just south of Sydney.
The interior has been refurbished and fitted out with ex-QF B767 Business Class seats. Quite smick compared to her [now Swiss] sister whose interior has been upgraded for the European endeavour.
Operationally, we’ve been undertaking VIP flights for sponsors of our hangar complex project, but with Avalon Airshow coming up, she’s off to the first show at Temora with the new runway, some crew training there, and then down to Avalon.
And, as everybody inevitably asks, NO, we haven’t had any engine failures. Precautionary shutdowns for a prop problem and an oil leak are the only hassles. And, NO, they aren’t the same series engines with which the airlines had all the drama!
Thanks for the thought and hope you enjoyed the show.
G’day
Ta Muchly for that!!
I’ll cherish these. Once we sort things out [matters like title transfer, sponsorship; minor details NOT!! ], we’ll bring one down here. A significant type in Oz history being used [that’s CV-240/340/440] by both airlines and RAAF. Must find out the s/n of our “marked” item.
Cheers and thanks again! 😉
Don’t happen to have a shot of the C-131D’s [Convair 340] just across the freeway on the right, do you? I was unable to get a clear shot while there and would like one as an update….one day??
G’day 😉
You’ll note that both of the last posts feature the R-3350!
Good on you Aerovet!!
G’day & Happy New Year 🙂
No doubt true CL5, but 3rd in the queue behind Pete Kinsey & Peter Vacher!!
g’day 🙂
Nice to see Mark flying it beautifully balanced! Has the seductive new leather smell worn off yet??
G’day 😉
From the amount of work he’s put into it, I think someone should point out that the Hurri is Peter’s, not Polly’s! :diablo:
Polly is perfectly happy in a Piper Dakota.
G’day 😉
One “heads up” on the Dak appearing with a fighter on each wingtip is that it’s easier to navigate looking at a wingtip than a map! The Dak is crewed with a Nav; much easier to let a Nav do the work to get you to where you wish to go. Worked very well for the Southern Knights Harvard’s during Federation Airshows in the Outback and made a lovely sight as they whistled past we slower compatriots.
G’day 😉
