The machine on which we worked was broken up with the section forward of the crew door being retained. It was [I thought?] SABENA, but maybe SAS??
We didn’t look inside the other, but it was going to the City of Cordoba as a museum piece in a park. Pop down and have a look.
G’day 😉
Had the privilege of Carlos’ company and leadership in recovering engines from a couple of DC-7C’s in Cordoba recently.
Just superb to see the -7B flying and also his photo [in “another place”] from the cargo door of a -6 during the Haiti relief. Congratulations!!:D
G’day 😉
-502 is being re-painted in her 2SQN colour scheme and, yes, it’s the very same HARS.
G’day 😉
Canopy and CV windows.
Flushed with success we’re wondering if anybody happens to have a spare T4 canopy [with 2x CV windows], and a set of Navigator station windows, in serviceable condition.
G’day 😉
Thanks!!
Sincere thanks for the prompt reply!!
G’day 😉
Found! Check your em’s.
G’day 😉
Um, leave it with me for a bit. I knew Vern in Port Macquarie and may be able to trace a copy.
G’day 🙂
PS it’s a pity that the Nectar is no longer available…it would be nice to pull more than 52 inches!!
Good News…an Xmas present!
Have a look at this url http://www.hars.org.au/2009/12/hars-c54-dc4-to-depart-archerfield-mon-21st-dec-09/ and you’ll see an operating DC-4.
She arrived home as expected…now more work begins!!
Happy NY to All!
G’day 😉
I’ll ignore that last remark!:p
The pins holding the wings in place are a major issue both for installation/removal and corrosion. Takes a heavy sledge hammer to get them in [and now, I learn, out!]
It’s just great that Bruce and his team are getting her; should’ve happened years ago.
G’day 😉
Let’s face it, the Americans have never been particular about their spelling of the English language!

Black Panther -901
You can see -901 in her Black Panther guise at the HARS Museum at Albion Park Rail.
Sadly, she won’t fly again [airframe fatigue] but has helped Temora to get the RAAF Sword going!
G’day 😉
They can’t fly in the UK because the air is different from SA and far too hard for aging jets like these.
The other problem is that officialdom can’t be shown up to be patently stupid, so, sorry, NO!
G’day 😉
Mate, love your work!!:D
G’day 😉
US Alternative?
Nice to see Ozplane getting in there with the inevitable question! 🙂
However, Good Vibs, if you can get to Chino around the middle weekend of May each year, I suspect you’ll find the closest thing to legends on that side of the Atlantic [purposely ignoring an entire continent in between!]
IMHO, they run a close second to Legends [and are much easier to get to if you just happen to have finished work in Tucson.]
G’day 😉
“Loves it to bits” may be a slight exaggeration, Ozplane, but it’s certainly a unique machine in this day and age.
What does need correction is the above assertion about how many are flyable. Ours certainly “leaps into the air”; she just isn’t too quick having done so!;)
Presently undergoing her annual inspection, she should be back flying in a couple of weeks.
G’day 😉
