    Gee Coop,

Why didn’t I think of that [Googling]?? Ta!

This may have been where he got the info, but has anybody got any idea if it’s more than a paper exercise?

    G’day 😉

TMW did such a superb job on the engines of a certain B707-138, he must have been impressed enough to actually buy a copy of the “next generation”?

    Wish him well!!:D

Anyone have an idea of the ex-mil or civil rego?

    Surviving Big Pistons

    RamboII,

How many still flying? If we look at R-2800’s, I guess heaps if you include the overall warbird community and those fabulous Alaskan fish carriers.

The “flagship” of the R-3350’s would have to be the Martin Mars [with yet another life-extension…yippee!!:D ], followed closely by the 3 regularly flown L-1049’s and every Skyraider around [have a listen at Legends! 😎 ]

IF the R-4360 were of greater HP than the R-3350 in their “ultimate” production [and indeed you might beat the CW product by a couple of hundred], then I might concede, BUT if even if we count the odd Reno racer, the only flyable R-4360 equipped machine I can think of resides at Long Island [or is it still earth-bound in NJ?] and is still under restoration.

Perhaps a shade hasty on my part, but it’s just spine tingling to listen to the idle of a -3350 as much as the roar on takeoff; inside or outside the aircraft.

    G’day 😉

    Rambo!!,

I’ll take your big P&W radials and raise you an R-3350. Nothing quite beats that!!

Bit like BA’s famous 3-engine ferry with pax which “force landed” at Manchester really. Although, to be balanced, MAN wasn’t the destination.

US$300 would be out of our league too for a wheel with no paperwork which one is buying from 1,000’s of miles away [or any other distance measure…let’s call it half a world?]

If you do drop it to GBP30, let’s know.

    Yes, actually!

We have two; one almost ready to put back together once an engine overhaul is complete and one taxiable which will fly one day.

PM if you’re happy to donate or whatever.

Spare a thought for the RAAF guys who flew Lancs during the war. 25Apr is Anzac Day in Oz and our major day of remembrance [they’ve even made Two-up legal on Anzac Day!!]

    Love your work!!:D Safe flying.

Far too many instruments for a DH-82A. At least two slots have a caging knob slot and if you know the Tiger vacuum system…………….

Cabin Moth [Puss or Leopard] with tandem seating is certainly a possibility, but those caging knobs….dunno?

Certainly gives photographic evidence of the fact that QF operated DC-4’s!:p

The elder young man in the shots would certainly have been on the school trips to and from boarding school in Qld.

Anyone indentify the Yellow/Brown painted Cat in one of the slides?

    Thanks so much!!:D

The Beaver alone is worth the footage [and the engine does sound like an -1830 not a -985], but it’s great to see the Cat in action.

    Bring on the rest, please.
