lost for words after reading his obituary. can only think of these lines from a song.
to the tune of lilly marleine

look around the mountains, in the mud and rain
see the scattered crosses, some which have no names
heart break and sorrow, are all gone
the boys beneath them, slumber on

    with deepest respect…

i seem to remember reading in scaryplane monthly 😉 that there was a test pilot at Avro’s who looped every anson he tested. also that there was a case of someone looping a sunderland, the aircraft was supposed to have landed with a bit more dihedral than it started with.
    all the best.

Now lets say you are not a pilot and you don’t want to be a pilot and you don’t care if there is a stick and rudder in the back and you have a choice of a Chipmunk or a Mustang.

    What would you choose?

right on the not a pilot (yet) do want to be a pilot (lots)stick and rudder in the back (obligatory) the mustang is tempting but i’m a realist, more likely to get my rear in a Chipmunk again some time, probably the one based at sheffield that does the pay and ride bit.
    best regards.

how the heck did shaving private ryan get top spot over the likes of BoB, dam busters, 633 sqn, Great escape, angels 1-5, reach for the sky and dirty dozen???? suppose there’s no accounting for taste. and back on topic, looks like the critics missed the point (again) .
