the forgotten soldier by Guy Sager, the true story of a child of French/German parentage who was conscripted into the German army and sent to the Russian front, am about to finish this book and its well worth the read. also, i desserted Rommel by Gunther Behneman (sp?) shows why dessertion during wartime isn’t a cowards way out.

The boys and i spent the day at doncasters aero venture, there i got talking to one of the staff who told me the lighning there was privately owned, which made me think.
what garden ornament of the military nature would you like in your yard if only to miff the neighbours.I once took a friend to mildenhall air fate years ago he soon fell in love with the rapier missile battery on display, which amused me as at the time he lived only a **** stride from luton airport and him having one in his yard would raise an eyebrow or two.

i only live 10 mins away from the said lightning so my aviation fix is readily to hand 😀 but for my own garden “toy”, would have to be a hunter, i would love to own one of these. BUT, if money was no object………..any one fancy taking on the job of building a lancaster B11 ? now THAT would look pretty amazing.

whilst working on my model of the TSR2 yesterday i got to thinking about the footage of the TSR2 and the lightning chase plane when the TSR2 pilot lit up one on afterburner and the lightning pilot both and the TSR left the lightning pretty covincingly in its wake, hmmmm, what say things happened a little differently in 1965 and lets say, Rolly Beamont strapped on one of the prototype TSR2’s and chucked it down the runway, held her low for a short while then pointed the nose to the heavens with the olympus’s (olympi?) flat out, would this have made the record unreachable by the good old frightning?. not to mention the F15 ect?.

cat now amongst pidgeons, waiting for feathers to fly.

Guess what the first things in the bin were when we split up? 🙁

    .

guess what was the first things i moved BEFORE me and Bev split up 😉 i know how vicious woman can be 😮 shame that this has put you off the hobby. i have to admit that i have found it to be rather relaxing and helps take my mind off the nastiness of the split.

    best regards.

many thanks Goeff, love them pics,

Alastair, i know and have seen first hand what foxes are capable of with chickens ( and from what i am told, on rare occasions piglets) like all dogs they will persue a fleeing “prey” and in the confined area of a chicken coup there are plenty of fleeing bodies when there si a fox around!. but there are ways and means of keeping them out, nice little fences to give them a “shocking” experience for one. that will put most animals off a “kill frenzy” and sour their taste for chicken (for a little while anyway) please i don’t want to get into a fox hunting debate here, this is just my honest opinion and i belive there are more humane ways of dealing with problem foxes that blowing its guts out or letting it get torn apart by a pack of hounds. (re- best foot forward by Colin Hodgkinson, the autobiography of an RAF pilot who lost his legs and continued flying operationally with the RAF), he wrote about being with the mendip hunt and seeing a fox peeing with fright as it was thrown to the pack. sickening!!!

    just my 2pw.

if you can find it Matchbox did a model tiger moth in 1/32nd scale and one of the options was to build G-AIVW, (the others were a standard RAF tiger and a Canadian one with canopy and the option of ski’s. its a very nice looking model when built too.

thee aircraft engineers are at a trade fair, one from BAE, one from Embrear and another from Aerospatial, they were in the “gents” and having releaved themselves as the Embrear guy was thoughly scrubbing between his fingers he said ‘at embrear we are meticulous about everything we do’, the guy from Aerospatial was inspecting his fingernails after washing, he said ‘at Aerospatial quality control is everything’. the BAE guy pulled up his zip and said as walked out ‘at BAE we know enough not to pee on our bloody fingers!!!’.
