Floods list reminds me why i don’t watch tv very much, certainly not terrestrial anyway, i normally only watch discovery, discovery wings, national geographic and stuff like these.
Greg
you got yours for a fiver eh?. you lucky weasel, 🙂 mine cost me that much and it was part built (badly) and had no undercart,i had seen the inside of the box and accepted its shortcomings because it was the only game in town so to speak its on my “to build” pile after i have beat a revell dambuster lanc into shape and finished my hawker P1127 and moonbat.
Greg
typical bloke (but at least i admit it);).

glad to help Texantomcat,
Greg
Hi Texantomcat, yep airfix did do a seahawk in 1/72nd, it had two versions, the Royal Navy aircraft and the German Marinefliger(sp?) with a taller fin / rudder. it was last released with markings for the RN historic flight.
Flood, Frog did a DH110 that had a molded in pilot and solid wheelbays i belive (not seen one so i am not 100% certain on this) there was an article on this kit in scale models international some years back, if i can find my copy i’ll let you know for sure if you want
hope this helps.

Hi Moggy, thanks for the info. much appreciated.i will do a google search when i log off. my local airport is Leeds Bradford, has anyone any experience of the flying club there?. also there is Sherburn in the area, which would be better or wouldn’t it matter, also i don’t mind traveling some distance for lessons, any other clubs / schools i should consider?
cheers.
Greg
Hi Guys, getting my PPL is one of my ambitions, unfortunatly i won’t be able to afford it for a couple of years yet 🙁 i do have a couple of questions though,
firstly i read Moggy’s post that mentions the NPPL, what’s this please? is it a restricted licence of some sort?. also would 2 hour lessons be better than 1 hour?. i found this better when learning to drive because i seamed to spend the first half hour going over the previous lesson.
i’ll end this with a piece of advice given by my driving instructor, your licence isn’t a licence to say you CAN drive, its a licence to carry on learning!.
a point well made i think.
Greg
Cheers Flood. maybe yours aughta read sir postalot LoL. nearr 11,G’s wow thats some going sir.
thanks for the advice,. much appreciated.

Hi Wombat, there has been a model of the XP67 moonbat, it was a vacform though but quite an easy one. i have one that is 3/4 finished that i am doing as a nightfighter version with the contra props that the bat was supposed to have in production.
on the subject of what kits we would like to see, not too sure on WW2, probably the hamilcar glider in 1/72 injection molded, also an accurate lancaster (even the new airfix 1/72 and tamia 1/48th kits have their problems)
for more modern it would have to be an affordable TSR2 (i know about the heratage models kit but at £40 that is WAY too pricey for me).
cheers for this interesting thread, for more model stuff check out the http://www.finescale.com forum.
Flood, the frog sea vixen is quite a good kit, though not up to todays standards. i did have to mold a new (clear) navs window though as the one in the kit is gray plastic. revell have recently re-released it.
Greg
Hi Moggy, cool pic, thanks for sharing it with us. nice looking aircraft too. yours?
Greg
Hi Guys and girls, my first post on this forum and its about the best aircraft ever made.
i flew in four chippies during my A.T.C days (unfotunatly my 3822 has been lost and i have no record of the ones i flew in save one. i was on camp at RAF Binbrook when i had my second and most memorable chippie flight (and my shortest flight to date). we had just taken off and where about to leave the circut when the pilot threw the aircraft round and dropped her on to the numbers, he never spoke to me about what was happening till we got back and climbed out of the aircraft. i hadn’t noticed but the oil pressure had dropped to zero and he thought getting back to ‘terra firma’ was the expedient thing to do. the oil was dripping from the cowling and onto the apron, (and went all over my uniform when i was helping the mechanic to remove the cowl).
one short flight and a ruined uniform and later came a nice job for some of us of moving sandbags from one place to another (can you imagine what i looked like?) then i got the good news, inspection in half an hour!!! belive me, that was NOT my day. other memories of flying in the chippies are all plesent though, turning one on its wingtip over the welsh coast whilst flying from RAF Brawdy to st davids airfield. the pilot from RAF kinloss saying to me whilst spinning “see that blue blurry thing cadet, thats loch ness, you have control” (yep panic did a little number on me but i did all the right things and pulled her out ok – he had already asked me if i had done spin recovery btw). and flying over my home county of yorkshire flying from RAF Finningley. all great memories and some of the best times of my life.
