i was at last years show and found it to be exellent, i enjoyed myself thoroughly. one thing though, if the twin pin is there next time round how about getting A,A to do plesure flights?. and also (seeing as its a heck of a drive for me, and i suspect quite a few others) how about camping arangements?. i will hopefully be coming in my (RAF lookalike) landrover so it will take me ages to get there from Doncaster so camping is really the only option (both the night before and the night after).
just my 2pw,
thanks for last years show btw.

Today i was driving up the A1 going to Leeds to attend my grandma’s funeral, i found myself thinking of Steve, and the way he passed on from this world. i have to admit i drove with much more care and attention than i normaly do (and i consider myself a fairly good driver) and to be honest i was more than a little shocked about the way other people drove around me – and i have a 72 mile round trip to work so you’d have thought i would have noticed before!!!. if Steve leaves us with but one legacy let it be that we take more care whilst driving / flying, and in what ever else we do. and not just for a few days or weeks.
lets all stay safe out there, and if for nowt else lets do it for Steve.

thanks Ian, i agree it is a little early. if there is going to be a whip round though please let me know via pm incase i miss the thread.
cheers.
Greg
i agree Daz, totally. and i know its early but how about some way of remembering him, a permenant reminder, say at Duxford or old warden. dedicating a bench or some such?. i’d give some coin towards that for sure.
Greg
i’m deeply saddend by this terrible news, although i never met Steve face to face we did chat on yahoo, and via pm occasionally, we also tried to arrange to meet at some shows but unfortunatly it wasn’t to be. but from this small contact with him i know he is one of the worlds good guys, an all round top bloke. he gave me advice on aviation, getting a PPL, and on some personal stuff when my life was turning into a real mess. and also some real laughter (never got the coffee stains off the keyboard after that joke that got scrubbed!!!!.
quite a while back there was a thread where Steve, me and a couple of others said we would not drink again (due to hangovers) i will be raising a glass to Steve tonight, with a sample from a bottle of shnapps i bought back from Austria after the Zeltweg show, i can’t think of anyone better to crack open that bottle for.
my deepest condolences to Jules, Haydn, and all his family and friends, i feel we have all lost a true brother here. our lives will be less the richer with out you Steve,
thank you mate, and god bless.
Greg.
one thing i remember reading is that Gene Rodenberry married Majel Barret who played Nurse Chappel in th original series, she went on to play other parts in the later versions too iirc, also that Gene was the first person to have their ashes scattered in space.

a sad loss for his family and friends and for those of us who “grew up” with th original startrek on the tv, strange, only this morning i had my old model of the Enterprise in my hands and was thinking about restoring it some time (its the old AMT kit). i will definitly be restoring it now. thats James Doohan (AKA Scotty) and Deforest Kelly (AKA “Bones” McCoy) i wonder how the rest of the crew are doing, i know that Nichelle Nichols (AKA Uhura) was in the film snow dogs recently, and that Bill shatner (AKA James Tiberius Kirk – yup thats what the ‘T’ stood for) turns up a fair bit on tv but what about Leonard Nimoy (Spock) George Takei (Sulu) and Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov). wonder what they are up to film and tv wise.
all the best
rest in peace James Doohan,
