That is just neverending repeatment of the demagogic nonsense. Even if Iran had nukes today, they would have zero motivation in firing them in direction of Israel and being subsequently turned into ruins in a retaliation strike that would inevitably follow from Israel and USA. Even UN, China, Europe and Russia would turn their backs on Iran after such event..
That’s assuming that the leadership of Iran has the same concern for self preservation as we do on the forum. If however you have leaders that subscribe to an apocalyptic cult like world view, then it can’t be taken for granted that MAD will work.
If they are really gearing or training for such mission, there should not be these kind of news, all that should be very secretive
They know they can’t, so they are doing a lot of show, to press the iran’s politicians (or at least , the dumb ones)
They’d lose the psychological benefits if Iran wasn’t aware though.
It would be interesting indeed to view the results.I suspect the outcome would cause a lump in alot of F-16 fan boys throats,i.e the fulcrums gave them more of a run for their money than they thought. The outcome would perhaps be similar to the USAF’s experience when they put the F-15 up against the IAF’s Su-30’s.
Just waiting for the fanclub to shoot me down now!:diablo::D
I somehow doubt that Israeli pilots, with helmet sights, and Python Vs, will be embarrassed by Mig 29s.
As someone once said it – get on the plane and try to visit those places. Maybe from time to time you could talk to the natives from various sides (as there are many in the Middle East) and try to get their opinions of the matter and their way of reasoning. Then if you would use your common sense you would understand that they are not all bloody idiots riding camels and being ready to become martyrs but just normal people as all of us are. Trying to ignore this huge cultural difference often brings people into delusion and makes them bring different (often wrong) conclusion.
There are no universally accepted ethical standards. One only needs to have a minimal understanding of various cultures to see this. I have my ethical views and you have yours: neither my views nor yours are better or more correct.
And you still come to judge people you barely understand.
I, and many of my friends HAVE visited some of these places. Nowhere have I said that the entire population of the middle east has extremist, 12th century views. The problem though is that the folks blowing stuff up, ARE stuck in that mindset, and they use intimidation and thuggery against the moderate masses.

You are correct………..
In short the vast majority believed Saddam had WMD. Further, while he could have cooperated and proved he did not. He failed to do so………..Sorry, its hardly the fault of the US, the UK, or anybody else.
I would add that many other nations (China, Russia, Germany, France, etc.) supported Iraq and sold them weapons not just the US. So, if some want to point fingers. They should not forget that many others are just a guilty……..looks who conveniently calling the kettle black!

Nonsense!
The political conditions of the 12th century are not relevant to the 21st. Times have changed immensely. You are ignoring the many claimants to being the “one leader” who have emerged & been violently resisted by those he would seek to lead, from Nasser to Saddam Hussein. By what route do you imagine such a leader can emerge? And what, BTW, has “playing Arab against Persian” got to do with it? There are enough divisions between Arabs for that to be pretty irrelevant. The Persians are currently using them to play off one Arab against another. And don’t ignore the Turks.
The problem is that those with extreme ideologies in that region are stuck in the 12th Century.

Yeah, they have been acquiring them since late 70s and since then sarin has been raining on Israeli cities almost uninterruptedly. What drugs have you taken?
You are obviously in an obsessive need for an enemy to spew your hatred on. Since Soviet Union is gone, you desperately look for someone else. The last few pages of responses by you, pfcem and Scooter is the single biggest load of xenophobic brainwashed crap I have ever seen stockpiled in one place.
:thumbs up:
So if Israel didn’t have a credible deterrent, do you think perhaps things might have been a little different? As for Xenophobia-
you’re certainly welcome to try the Neville Chamberlain approach to dealing with extreme ideologies, or pretend that they don’t exist. I’d rather err on the side of caution.

Syria already has WMD, just not nuclear weapons. Same goes for Iran.
And that’s all the more reason for Israel to have a credible deterrent.

Yeah, because the Arab nations had such stellar records against Israel in the past  Jordan won’t do anything. Egypt most likely won’t do anything. You’re left with Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Whicn really means it’d be Iran, or Saudi and Syria. Saudi and Iran don’t get along and even over this issue it is highly unlikely that they’d cooperate. Israel v. Iran or Israel v. Syria/Saudi is in Israel’s favor either way.
The stakes change with Syria and Iran having WMD though.
