What I was getting at originally was
‘What will the F-35 do so much better than the F-22 that will justify both its additional development costs and greater cost per unit than legacy style systems?’
The US or NATO is unlikely to go to war with any nation with stealth capabilities in the forseeable future. If they do, then the F-22 can ensure air dominance and attack high value ground targets.
The current requiremenet is simply for cheap, non stealthy CAS aircraft with multi role a2a ability, like the F16 or the Gripen.
Just a speculative note; would it have been a cheaper/easier option to navalise the Raptor for the USN than develop F-35C?
The F-35’s avionics have a lot more A/G capabilities, and the geometry of the weapon bays allows for a wider variety of A/G weapons in the VLO mode, than the F-22.

What do you all think, will the Su-35 be able to acheive supercruise with external weapon load?
“Sukhoi continues assessments of the recorded parameters in order to determine whether the airplane had actually attained supercruise. Additionally, the company continues to define altitudes, weights, external and internal loads at which the Su-35 can reach its supercruise performance. A number of additional missions shall be devoted to these assessments.
“The power reserve is clearly seen when the Su-35 is accompanied by a Su-30,” Bogdan says. “During the very first mission, I had the chance to assess how well the Su-35 responds to the throttle. When I was accelerating at combat power, the chase plane’s pilot had to use afterburner from time to time. And still, he was going slower.”
In afterburner, the Su-35 accelerates much faster than the original Flanker. This is due to the increase in engine power at full afterburner from 12,500 to 14,500 kgf”.
And more importantly if it can, for how long? If it’s not a meaningful distance, then it’s not really a big factor.

If you’re flying a strike mission in an area known to have fighters you’re going to be trying to AVOID them so you’d probably leave the AIM-120s home and take AIM-9Xs for the unfortunate case in which they actually spot you. If you’re doing CAP then you’d take both.
It’s called “stealth” 😉 I’d rather them explain why the Flanker couldn’t just shoot the F-35 in the face from that range. :diablo: I think the whole “blow by without commiting” would only apply if the F-35 hadn’t been detected. Then they just hose of a missile at the other aircraft and keep going. Would probably work better at longer ranges and with an AIM-120.
Probably because the DAS can detect the Flanker before the Flanker can see the F-35.

Can i ask what the F/A-18E has over the MiG-35?, seeing as the indians are already buying a whole lot of MiG-29K’s for their navy, and they already have the infrastructure set up from flying MiG-21’s and 27’s. Additionally, I can see the US being heavy on the sanctions if India ever steps out of line.
The associated avionics and weapons that would come along with it.

man, are people fools or what on this website …. I guess americans must be watching too much fox news and western MSM propaganda kool aid
Israel has committed inummerable war crimes against humanity , such as ethnic cleansing ,mass murder of civilians etc. which is precursor to genocide , as per nuremburg trials ….
by the way hamas was created by mossad to create infighting in the PLO(under Arafat)
And the objective news sources that you obviously listen to are…..?

You can crack all the jokes you want. Just don’t try to pull the F-15s combat record, of sucessfully kicking the sh!t out of inferior opponets, out of your satchel. And then use it to try and make the case that the F-15 would just as easily win a conflict with an enemy that is equal in technology, numbers, pilot quality, tactics and things like C4ISR/AWACS/EW… etc. And infantile ‘:diablo:’ symbols won’t make that point for you guys either.
The USAF may indeed go up against an air force where there’s similar technology. They may even go up an air force where the pilot quality and tactics are similar. The likelihood of them going up against an air force where they’re outnumbered, or don’t enjoy huge advantages in C4ISR/AWACS/EW, is very slim. Even going up a against a foe that had technological parity/pilot skill, that foe would have a hard time overcoming the other advantages the USAF has, if both air forces are flying to their strengths.

I think he meant to say won, not one.
