Could it be a distraction for some pilots and or dangerous with possible reflecting light on approach?
I think the Blue Angels for example are partly guided by a member of the team holding a mirror on the ground (reflecting the light) to help guide them back to the airfield or guide the display area. As well as using ground ‘marks’ such as hedges, roads, or even a field that looks a bit different from other fields.
Cool pics, thanks for sharing 91Regal. The F111 use to do a flypast over Biggin Hill during the Air Fair. Remarkable aircraft! 🙂
I been working in TV, film, advertising industry for years, I would say ‘NO’.
Reality TV is mass produced as it is ‘cheap TV’ compared to other types of shows. In recent times, the trick to get two shows from one. I.e QI then it’s repeated, then the same show but with an extra 10 or 15 minutes of footage included and QI XL on Dave (Have I Got News for You, Russell Howard’s Good News and add 15 minutes and shown as Good News Extra etc etc). I like some of these shows but it’s a trick of the industry to get two shows from one. Then another trick is the extra 2 or 3 shows in a series just showing highlights already seen, repeated etc from the series in earlier episode.
I agree about the 15 minutes of ads per hour split into a number of 3 or 4 minute breaks, it is a pain. But we still have to pay the TV licence fee regardless unless the BBC start showing ads. It can be useful when making a coffee but not every ad break or you will be up all night with eyes like headlights lol…

Thanks for the link, photos and feedback Elliott, much appreciated. I enjoyed reading the review of the show and viewing your photos (thank you for sharing), and I am looking forward to going along to the event this year for my first visit to Headcorn.
It does look very good value for money and it was also very useful having some feedback from a photography perspective in the review. 🙂
Thank you
I haven’t been to Southend Air Show for years. Mostly because very small area with people barging and pushing by me regardless as to where I was standing. It was very stressful day out and I didn’t find it enjoyable at all. It is a shame the airshow has been scrapped though and my brother goes every year.
So many aircraft that come close. Many that are mentioned above and others… Tornado F3, F-15E, Spitfire, T-6 Texan/Harvard, PC-12, C47/53, B-17, Avro Shackleton, F-4 Phantom, P-51C and D, DH Dove, F4U Corsair, Hunter etc etc…
But again my vote goes to the Mosquito…
Thanks for video link Propstrike, the landing looked a bit bumpy. Thanks for sharing the photos J31/32. The Sea Prince’s look in very good condition and beautiful paint work. Looking forward to meeting the team. 🙂
Looking forward to seeing both Sea Prince’s in a couple of months time when I visit the museum. 🙂
I haven’t tried the electronic version yet because I collect aviation magazines.
Not sure other than growing up close to Biggin Hill in the 70’s and 80’s it would have been back then. The BBMF, Sally B, and many other historic aircraft flying in and out on a regular basis, as well as the air shows. It wasn’t the first Spitfire I saw, but I remember watching G-FIRE displaying back in the mid 80’s (not at the Biggin Hill Air Fair but a normal week day early afternoon).

I remember loving the red paint look on a Spitfire. 🙂
Thanks for the updates. Great to see a few shots of the Devon too. 🙂
Beautiful shots, thanks for sharing. 🙂
Great shot of the F-86 front on, and the shot of Snafu and the Corsair.
Cool! Must have been fun to paint being so small. Not sure on the scale, I have some Micro Machine aircraft and your models are a bit bigger than my micros. I also have a Matchbox Spitfire made in 1975 which is a bit bigger than your models.
They look really cool! 🙂
