I have been trying not to comment here but ive been down the Pub an had a few beers!!!
One of the recurring coments seem to be that things are not as exciting as they use to be in the 70’s and 80’s!!!! Maybe thats because we as organisers now have to work within the bounds of CAP403 and the dreaded Health and Safety:rolleyes:
Also the constaints of what we would like to do and what we can afford is also an issue.
I constantly hear on here people bleating that Airshows are to expensive or not value for money! you carnt have both!
As an organiser trying to balance a “Good Show” with a budget that is knowhere near enough is a constant battle.
Maybe here’s an idea, if the Airshows currently offered do not “Float your boat” then try organising one of your own. You may find it harder than you think;)

Am I alone in thinking that the the Everest project is rather strange, I don’t see the point especially using a non standard engine. Don’t get me wrong I would love to see the Wallace restored and flying but the use of a small diameter Leonides, turning a small diameter (probably three blade) prop is going to spoil the whole effect. The Gauntlet in Finland always looks very odd with the Leonides and yet the Flycatcher when it was flying with a Wasp looked very good despite not being a two row like the original types Jaguar.

    John

    I agree John

Its a replica anyway so why go for a Leonides!!!!! A 985 (Wasp) is a far more useable engine and looks the part as well. I would love to see the Wallace flying.

Best place is Univair in the states, we just had an L4 fuselage from them. We do have the old L4 fuselage but it requires some corroded tubes replacing.

Hmm. Now that I look again, you could be right. I thought the darker patch just above the aileron hinge-line was a dark blue roundel.

Forgive me if im wrong but didnt the Buchons maskerade as Hurricane’s, looks like the remnents of the RAF camo to me.

The Mercury was a 1911 two seat A/C, we built a static one or “Flambards” many years ago which is now at Elvington. Thought OW had a new resident!!!!
