Good luck if you have a bonk on the head in a C type. It was nice to see pilots wearing something a bit more substantial that the DC cloth helmet or the leather and hardshell Campbell at Duxford recently.

I agree, all very well to look nice and original but it offers no protection in the event of an incident.

As I understand it the Ju52’s have been grounded following discovery of corrosion and crack in the spars of the crashed A/C.

Stampe in Question has a Renault 4P03 with an air start so you don’t need to swing it, I fetched it from White Waltham after filming 😉 Not that I’ve seen the film.

A big bit missing in that story, while in the UK and while trying to get UK certification the Jenny was crashed by CAA test pilot Bob Cole while on an Airtest out of Rendcomb. The Jenny was rebuilt by Skysport engineering and that was the point it was repainted into the McWorter Bros colour scheme. The authorities were less than helpful at the time with getting the Jenny UK certified, they would not let Vic carry out the Airtest and having already had it crashed once He was reluctant to allow anyone else to do it. It was not offered for sale, Vic was approached by someone in the USA and with all the hassle with the UK authorities it sadly returned to the US.

All I can say is as usual this forum decends into utter rubbish, and i find i realise why I visit it infrequently these days !!!

If all you could see was a T shirt and instantly jumped to the conclusion it was being used as some political statement then I truly feel sorry for you. I just watched the program and at no time was distracted by what Miss Raworth was wearing and even having read your comments struggled to actually see what you were on about !!!!!
As the person that actually flew her all I saw, both in the program and in real life was a lady who was interested in the subject, engaged with it and incredibly proud and grateful of what her Grandfather and his fellow officers did 100 years ago.

As Far as I know one of the BE2’s was around until recently as we were offered it but it was in a very poor state, i don’t think the Albatros survived 🙁

I know of one BE2 that is hanging in the squadron at North Weald and one Albatros that is with a local modeller. There may be more of course 🙂
