loverly:)
Have used Ford Siver Fox before and its not a bad match š
Terrible news, worried about some friends that are there that we have not been able to contact. Very very sad for all involved.
Sad reading, as always its those left behind that are in our thoughts.
Well done ladies, great stuff as usual. Is that Mikael Carlson’s Triplane? If so he wasted no time getting her fit again after his little problem at Legends.
Nope thats John Days DR1, Mikaels is a right off!
Judging by the video, he didnt lose control, he just never pulled out of the spin.
.
Err, Isnt that losing control:confused::confused:
The aircraft departed the intended path of flight, therefore he did not have control!
Thanks Andy, I think!
If this is going to turn into a stupid “Let ban all airshows” and “Its all to dangerous” thread. Or a “Lets remember every airshow accident we can” thread I will ask the mods to close it.
Some times the coments on here completly baffle me:(
Correct, Neil Maclachlan was the last fatality. Think yesterday’s loss was the 1st at an airshow š
Yestredays was not at an Airshow but retreiving back at Bournmouth airport after, grounding the rest of the team untill the cause is known is standard RAF procedure.
Sad sad sad news:(
Thoughts as always with the family and the rest of the guys.
Please please keep it to a dignified level on the forum, other effected by this will read it. All that matters at this moment is that someone’s friend, husband and son have been lost. Keep it to the facts and think before posting who may read it.
RIP Jon and Blue Skies š
Still possible, Air Atlantique or Classic Wings with their Rapide’s will be the best bet. At the last Sywell show we had Air Atlantique there with the Rapide and I hope they will be with us again next year on August 19th, maybe you could do somthing then š
So terribly sad, met Frans Dely and his daughter out in Al Ain a few years ago, nice guy and a great Photographer. Dennis Spence was also with us on that trip. As always thoughts are with the families of those involved.
Seriously, Merlin crankcases and blocks! Were they castings? Iād no idea that Ilmor were that involved in such major Merlin components; and, of course, Iām not doubting that the skills were (and are still) there.
Thanks for all the replies; it seems that the manufacture of new aero-engine components is more common than I supposed.
Yes they were castings, this was not really Ilmor, it was more a Pauls pet project. He was planing to do it on a much bigger scale. When he was killed it was all stopped, there were un machined castings in the hangar for crankcases and Banks. These were sent out to the USA for use in Merlin rebuilds.
Paul Morgan was making Merling Crankcases, blocks, camsafts and much more. He was also making sleave valves for Centaurus as well. Sadly it all came to an end when he was killed in the Sea Fury. I know the Cams were approved by RR and some I belive still fly with the BBMF. Certainly some of his parts are still going around the Pylons at Reno:)
150 HP PA 18 Super Cub:)
Hmm.
That, actually, does not look too bad. And for once, I really mean that!
Hopefully the fighters at least will have realistic flight mechanics, and not go screaming around the sky like X-Wings….
Unfortunately I think thats exactly what will happen, even from that short clip the CGI looks over done again, they just dont seem to lean!!
As always some of the CGI lookd stunning and then you go and have A/C performing unrealistic manouvers, I will leave my jugment until I see the finished article for real but looks like another good film ruined. They had the use of real A/C again and have failed to use them to their full potential:rolleyes:
And I agree, some of it looks almost animated!
But hey, as always this has been produced for the mass market and not for us on here, be thank full that a flying film of any sort has been made:)
