Wow, he knows his stuff. Bristol Centurus, 1800 hp out of a Firefly:eek:
Switched off after that:D

Correct:D One of the two full size replica’s built by FG Miles at Shoreham for the “Blue Max” Picture taken at Baldonnel durring filming of “Darling Lili” when impressed into the German Airforce!! Over to you
 You want history as well as an ID?
No dont want history, but do want the correct type, 😀
Not a Slingsby 7/8th SE5 no:diablo:
That i correct, it is an SE5 in German markings, but thats not the whole story;) Will leave it a little longer to see if anyone comes up with more.
Lets try this one, might be quite easy but lets see!
Oh bum!!! best see what i can come up with!:D
looks like a captured Rumpler in RFC markings
Forgive me if i’m wrong but was’nt the cause of the crash attributed to part of an elevator hinge failing due to metal fatigue? I’m sure i have seen the accident report somewhere stating this as the most likely cause.!
failure of the rudder rather than elevator hinge was given as a possible cause of the crash. The hinge was found broken but it couldnt be said for sure if it had broken before or as a result of the crash. Having flown the A/C, and others of the same type, i can asure you that failure of the rudder would give you a very big problem!! There were other reasons put fwd that could have been the cause, none conclusive however!:(
VX927, A couple to wt your appertite:)
Robin Bowes, wasn’t it?
Your correct Daz, it was Robin Bowes, a loverly man and great freind. Only shortly before his accident i had been let loose in his Triplane so i could ferry it to some displays for him and then work up to do some of the ones he couldnt get to, he was flying alot for Crunchie at the time. Another accident that we really dont know what happened:(
A/C belongs to Jan Cooper, was at Rendcomb for along time. Not sure of its where abouts now?
That appears to be the Beech Musketeer and Fox moth incident and not the T67 Firefly. The Beech was taking off up the hill towards the resturant and over shot the runway. Amazingly the fox moth was rebuilt:eek:
And just to prove it!!!!
