Dean, have you flown with a pilot called Tishan who used to fly Dash 8’s with FlyBe and now works for EZY?

Flew the route last night in the EMB ERJ170 and it worked a treat. Thanks.

Deano, I can see I-VG 0.5 DME on the SID chart, but can’t see I-VG 7DME. I assume 7DME is 7nm from RWY06, what does the “I-VG” part mean?

You wouldn’t actually get that far, like I said after Noise Abatement you would “most likely” be given a direct routing to SAINT ABBS.

Edit: As it happens I have actually found the correct procedure in my charts. For a SAINT ABBS departure this is what you will do:

RWY06: Climb straight ahead, at 640ft or I-VG 0.5 DME whichever is later, turn left, track 045°, then at I-VG 7DME turn right to SAB

RWY24: Climb straight ahead to UW, turn left to SAB. Noise preferential route terminates above 3,000ft

    Hope this helps

    Dean

Cheers mate, I’ll input this into the FMC tonight and see how it goes.

Thanks Deano, just found it strange that you would head west adding around 60nm to the route when you could just head East via RWY06. I assume you would start the climb to say FL300 after passing transition altitude at TRN?

That probably is the reason, although I spotted a few ATR’s operating around the Med.

From the Flightradar24 site, is this actually correct about only 60% carrying ADS-B equipment?

Flightradar24.com shows live airplane traffic from different parts around the world. The technique to receive flight information from aircraft is called ADS-B. That means the Flightradar24.com can only show information about aircraft equipped with ADS-B transponders. Today about 60% of the passenger aircraft and only a small amount of military and private aircraft have an ADS-B transponder.

Why yes, I am the older brother at 72 and he’s the younger at 42.:p

p.s. thanks for the welcome all.

Hey, are you two brothers? :p

The Dash 8 is a possibility. It flies faster than the ATR, and so on longer legs can be more efficient even though the consiumption per hour is higher. The Q400 is a proven model for the larger pax number mentioned here, although I’m a little sceptical the Q200 or Q300 would be a better option in the smaller market.
    I still say ATR.

Couldn’t agree more. Incidentally is Willie Walsh, Louis Walsh’s brother as there is 10 years age difference between them?

Because Willie Walsh put 26 UK inbound into the air and forced their hand. Nats hand, not Brown’s. And I’d be the first to blame the Government.

I am biased also and think you can’t go wrong with ATR42 or 72, Dash 8 could be a possibility.
