One of the pilots bailed out, the other one landed its aircraft safely.

    >>Both safe and in good health.<<

According to fresh news, the one who bailed out, is seriously injured….

It is not a matter of opinion!

For decades fighters were not able to dogfight in night or in bad weather conditions.
Even more, fighters with no radar, like the F-5, were not able to do any air battle whatsoever, in such conditions.

Today, though, a pair of good helmet mounted night goggles might do the job.

Aesa arrays are tilted back because aesa systems have a narrow view, so they tilted back for better view on manouvres (turns)

To my understanding AESA antennas are tilted upwards to reflect incoming energy away from emitting direction and thus lower frontal RC.

If you have any proof of what you are saying, pls post it.

    True.
I presume the answer to this contradiction is the wiling of ample customers to finance the new antenna.

According to military news site Defense-net.gr, during the Paris Air Show, EADS redetermined its commitments towards the Hellenic Government, concerning the Eurofighter offer.

According to the brief, the price already quoted is 65 million euros per unit, at the date of the offer (non quoted), which will be revised in today prices, following the euribor rates.

According to the same brief, if Greece accepts the offer it will be involved in the development of the Trance 3 aircraft plus its weapons (mostly the METEOR), plus the new AESA radar, the Captor-E.
EADS is committed to deliver the new radar in the same amount of time they need to build the aircrafts, which is 36 months. (From this summer I guess)

EPA has declared that we need an AESA antenna(most probably because it will perform better against the F-35s), but OTOH all other members of the consortium are pretty much content with the performance of mecha-Captor.

It’s the name of the sandals worn by Hermes, in Greek mythology. Yes, random!

According to Ancient Hellenic Mythology, Hermes was wearing winged sandals, made by pure gold, which helped him fly, but AFAIK this sandals had no name whatsoever.

The word “Talarion”, probably is of Roman origin, so pls blame it on the the Italians 😎

One good question is whether this new engine is going to improve supercruise performance.

And went from 35 to $70 in few months …

Oil was abt 140 USD per barrel just some months ago.
IIRC the UAE gov has stated that in order for the state finances to be in an even keel, oil should be at least 50 USD. Which is less than 70.
But a lot of the giagantic programming plus the affiliated loans, was held, when oil was well above 120 USD.

To make things a little more complicated, from the seven states of UAE, only Abu Dhabi has got oil reserves. Dubai has not, whatsoever, but relies on the huge port facility and tourism for income. Both are also going down.

    Lets wait and see.
