I don’t understand the debate also:confused: To check or demonstrate something in the industry is not ony wishfull thinking but real testing…
They must have pushed the M88 ECO at 9t on a banch and follow the parameters and concluded it was fine…In fact it shouldn’t have costed a lot since they only had to take one or some of the M88-ECO test engines available and push them at 9 t….
But if that was the case, why not produce this version?
The Rafale, is currently underpowered and could use all the extra thrust it could get! I dont think it is so simple.
EDIT
What they clearly say is that they CAN produce a 9t M88, but WONT.
Probably the cost will go sky-hi, or they need 2-5 more years for development, or some technology import from the other side of the Atlantic, or bypass ratio might increase or all the above.
despite being a rafale enthusiast, I prefer being frank than being blind…
.!
Of course. And your points are appreciated.
In industry, ‘checked the feasibility’ mean that there is a prototype or a POC (proof of contest).
In industry, we make a difference between ‘check feasibility’ and ‘study the feasibility’.
That why Dassault say :And ‘demonstrated’ did’nt mean a powerpoint presentation. I don’t understand why this debate.
WHAT? AN OTHER INDENTITY????? :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Be aware the limit is 21.
And what exactly was demonstrated?
The POSSIBILITY???
arthuro.
You shouldn’t write these things in this thread!!
Certain member might get a stroke:dev2:
The pilot just passed next to the photographers, whistle the man in the tower was able to see them all the time.
Neither even cared?
What if there was an injury?

M88 engine highlights
(March 2008)…….
The M88 ECO program satisfied all of its initial objectives, spanning increased engine part life, lower cost of ownership (including reduced operating costs) and higher performance (4,000 total accumulated cycles/TAC). The test engines logged more than 150 hours of flight tests, and the equivalent of 1,800 hours of flight under Rafale mission conditions.
This program also checked out the feasibility of increasing M88 engine thrust to about 20,000 lb.
Now in plain english, directly from the makers.
@pegon
Is there any info about the capabilities of the Norwegian F-35?
Will they be fully equipped or they will lack some “key” features, like HMDs, stealth coating, certain avionics, etc?
The F-35 is becoming the F-104 of the 21rst century.
Wake up mate, you’re talking about an engine which have been terminated 5 years ago; i wouldn’t try calculating too much if i were you you might hurt yourself…

If my calculations are correct and the assumption that M88-3 would come from increasing LP compressor diameter, then bypass ration of th M88-3 should be about : 0,65.
This figure might prove too high for supercruising.
Passive ranging data are also available.
Nice pdf.
But is this ranging accurate enough to guide missiles, like the AMRAAM or the Meteor?
BTW wasnt a meteor that annihilated the raptors and other dinos?
The M-88-3 has a greater bybass ratio, that is only possible with a smaller core engine (it wouldn’t be a very good idea) or change the fan diameter. Therfore increase the fan diameter and use the same core engine (a quick and dirty solution).
Precisely!
And that might explain why AdlA rejected the M88-3.
@LordAssap/GlobalPress/Whatever
You constitute an insult to this forum, thus, I have chosen not to answer to your posts.
Thank you for your understanding.
As I wrote before, these datas were written when SNECMA had the M88-3 only on paper.
There might be an other explanation.
This increase in diameter might be related only to the size of the compressor and not the rest of the engine. Which would also increase the bypass ratio.
If that was the case, it would meant improved efficiency in low speeds, but even further degradation on SS and SC ability. Which MIGHT (I repeat …might) explain why AdlA didnt care less, about the M88-3!!
Just food for thought.
Big news for dassault !
Nice.
How many parisian newspapers will both of them hold? :diablo::diablo:
