The short answer to the original question is undoubtedly no.
AFAIK, there have less than 80 Il-96s of all marks produced, but over 300 A340-300s.
There is no doubt which aircraft has been more successful.
I do like the Il-96, though. Pity the Il-96M/Il-96T didn’t gain more international orders.
I remember taking off from the old Kai Tak airport during a Typhoon, which I thought was quite brave, but it was CX, so I guess the pilots are used to the odd typhoon here & there.
The aircraft was pushed sideways during the take-off run on the runway.
During climb-out, we were buffeted in all directions. I did not enjoy that.
Nice pics.
BUT I wonder what the point of spending any money/effort on any camouflage scheme for Mig-29s when all an opponent needs to do is look for the trails of thick black smoke?
I was thinking about the T-50/A-50 too.
Is it too late for an F-20 Tigershark (suitably modernised) revival? 😀 :diablo:
Seriously – I think there must be a market for affordable lightweight fighters, especially as many current fighters are so eye-wateringly expensive.
Has Mexico ruled out non-US combat aircraft?
I have flown in quite a few different passenger jets.
But I think the A340-600 experience was different. I’ve never seen the central overhead compartments move like that, nor creak like that.
I don’t really enjoy flying anyway. The sound of creaking during turbulence is not reassuring.
Interesting info about the laser ring gyros on the A346, though – cheers. 😀
Very interesting reading.
The fact that Greece. a NATO member, has chosen Russian SAM systems says something about the state of Western land-based SAM systems, does it not?
The Russian military OEMs should be flattered.
Have you checked wikipedia or a search engine of your choice?

No mention in this thread of anti-ship missiles….
I suppose not much need in any recent/current conflicts (Iraq, Afghanistan) for ASMs.
Is the Sea Eagle still operational?
I was just wondering if ANY members of this forum are female?
(at least the modern military aviation forum)
It is intriguing the JASDF didn’t “meet” the Tu-95 before it penetrated Japanese airspace.
I thought that in the European context, NATO fighters had “met” probing Bears etc in international airspace before they breached NATO airspace?
I have previously seen on YouTube clips of JASDF F-15s warning off PLAAF ELINT Y-8/AN-12s.
This will help JASDF argue for more air defence assets.
I thought the B-52 was expected to outlive the B-1 by several years?
Pity they can’t reopen the B-1B production line 🙁 …..
….that would be coool 😀
This Swedish pilot could probably get a job in l’Armee d l’Air*, judging by some vids on YouTube:

that’s just one example…
🙂
*assuming he speaks French
If there was sufficient demand, do you think the F-20 could be resurrected (with 21st century updates, of course)?
The F-20 was seriously cool. 😀
