Yes, I’d be there…..can’t think of any clever remark to go with this…fly vintage and spam, nose and tail (not together), not rich or smug, just glad to get into the air now and then.
I think you answered your question in the first line, they ‘spot’, not fly. Don’t take it personally.
I watched a TV programme a while back about ‘enthusiasts’, apparently it’s all about collating information about aircraft, not about actually leaving the ground in one. Unless, that is, you have to go to Greece and get arrested for collating information about aircraft. Criminal offence there. 😮
All the above, plus burgers at a price you can afford and probably a huge overdraft 😉
I assume most of you here know me as editor of TFC’s Fighter Log and long term volunteer with TFC. I have been asked by Stephen Grey to post the following:
“I have been very privileged to have been a friend of Ray Hanna for longer
than I care to remember. If I may comment,in an attempt to close certain
uncomfortable comparative pilot discussions which I understand have been
aired – To be mentioned in the same breath as him as a pilot is more than
flattering, it is absurd. When I grow up, I would like just once to fly as
well as he always did. An inspirational pilot & a gentleman, enduringly to
be remembered.
Yours sincerely, Stephen Grey “
Have a look at TFC’s newsflash on their website.
Glad to see you’ve ruled out cheating then 😉 Could be from the air support at Custer’s last stand.
i am so chuffed its being shown on channel 5………we cant receive it here!
Me to, can’t even get it via freeserve, where exactly in the south east of the UK can one receive Ch5??
😡
This is part of the story from the BBC Wales website:
‘Licensed radio ham Alan Kingdom, who lives a mile away in Cathcob Close, St Mellons, saw the plane flying low overhead and then picked up the distress signal on his radio scanning equipment.
“I saw it flying quite low, and wondered what it was doing,” he said. “Then the voice of the pilot came up on the Civil Aviation Authority distress frequency, saying they were landing on the Wentloog coast road, and that was it.
“They must have been really lucky. Those aircraft carry about eight litres of fuel and it’s pretty volatile fuel, so anything could have happened.”
[QUOTE=SteveYoung]I
On Saturday, we spent the day in company with Snapper, George, et al,
We met George briefly last year in the Friends of TFC enclosure last year….please remember that we always welcome veterans in our enclosure…no windbreaks, no ladders, a seat and a good view.
‘Your names not on the list mate, so you can’t get in’
It’s my turn again, every year I seem to get a chance to say…..Friends of TFC, enclosure just yards from the Gold Pass tent, free entry to the flight line walk and you can even bring your own lunch…..regardless of the weather. Join via TFC website.
That feels better 🙂
The box actually contains the next load of TFC merchandise. Now that they have got rid of the dodgy bloke models on the web site and replaced them with more appropriate models, the stuffs selling like hot cakes!! 😉
It’s a box with chips in it.
I think that’s a big mac your referring to! 😉
