I remember seeing a Jaguar lose its chute a Gibraltar. It seemed an awfully long time before it taxied in from the Western end of the runway.

It happened in around June 1983, when 41 squadron had a detatchment based there.

Thanks for the info, everybody. It was flying around the Circuit area again today.

I was too busy Flag waving and recovering broken motorbikes and riders (marshaling) to see the registration.

BBMF Lancaster and Spitfire flying low in formation over Lincoln, 10 minutes ago. Think it was the Mk.II(2) Spitfire.

I googled “Fauvel AV.36”, and it came up with a video of one on an air test, on Youtube. Bit of a bumpy landing, but it seemed to fly alright.

Have checked BBCi player web site. the programe is available on it now.

G-ANXB appears at 56.39 minutes into the recording. 1st in a black & white film, (old BEA scheme) followed by close-up shots of her in her current museum colours.

Hope this is some help to you TwinOtter.

    Helo TwinOtter,
The program you are looking for is titled, ” A CENTURY IN FILM: FROM SCOTLAND WITH LOVE “.

It was broadcast at 1-o-clock this morning, on BBC4, and runs for about 70 minutes. Unfortunately I didn’t note how far into the programe the clip was shown, but I think it was in the later part (after 30 minutes). It was in colour, but I’m sorry I can’t be more precise.

I was watching a documentry, on BBC4, last night. It was about home movies shot in Scotland in the last 100 years.

At one point, G-ANXB was seen landing on a beach, with what looked like a vintage fire engine in attendance. It was I think in the old BEA colours, rather than its current scheme.

Feel like a TOTAL PRATT. Returned to car in carpark, turned on ignition, but engine wouldn’t start. Tried everything i could think of, but no luck. Phoned my Friendly Garage, who thought it was a startermotor problem and would come out to get me started. Then while putting the car in a better position for towing, I noticed that I had a different key in the ignition. Put my usual key in the ignition, and the car fired-up first go.

Had to apologise to the mechanic for wasting his time, and gave him some “beer chits” for his trouble.

Felt like kicking myself all the way home.

#7 looks like a Standard 8 Car. Not sure of manufacturer.

My Dad had a similar one in the late 1950’s.

No, but I’m marshalling at Donnington Park tomorrow, so will probably see the fly past, if not otherwise engaged.

I would think it was later than 1965. My Father was stationed there from 1963 to 1965 inclusive, and I as a keen schoolboy spotter would surely have remembered any displays.
All I remember about weekend flying, at Laarbruch, involved the Gliding Club, an all red Tiger Moth, and the Prentice that currently resides in the Newark Air Museum.

This is the page I referred to.

I was looking for information on what aircraft type was involved. Id be very surprised if it hadn’t been photographed by some one from the viewing area.
