    Back on topic.
Spent an excellent day marshaling, at Cadwell Park, for the HOTTRAX motorcycle race meeting.
Lots of energetic flag waving, but fortunately, little in the way of nasty accidents.
Going back for the second day, tomorrow.

MV-22 Osprey seen heading North, over Lincoln, at about 18:30 hours last night.

    Very distinctive shape and sound.

If you “google” F-84F and select the “images” pages, there are several pictures of these aircraft carrying underwing stores.

These include, inboard and outboard tanks, A dummy Mk.7 “bucket of sunshine” and unguided rockets.

You do have to scroll quite a bit to find these though.

The “WINDSOCK DATA FILES” book #76 covered this aircraft, and the books usually had plans and drawings included.

    I agree. Don’t think RF-84F was armed.

However, if you look at the front view of “EA-241” in post #6, you can see 2 circular openings outboard of the intake, which might be mistaken for gun ports.

All it says, on the caption to a picture inside, is that it is unusual with the drop tank fitted backwards. The picture is the same as in post #1.

I would have loved to attend, but unfortunately I’m working.

I have worked on all the Bruntingthorpe Buccs during my 4 years at Lossiemouth, both in the Armament Bays, and on 208 Squadron.

In your second set of pictures:

    #1 is a Ki-48 Lilly

    #2 is either a Ki-43 Oscar, or a Ki-44 Tojo

#5 is I believe a Fairey Firefly, with a radar pod under its nose

Looking in the book “The Battle for France, then and now” I came across the following possible candidate.

    23/5/1940: P9441 flown by F/O D. BYRNE.

    Hi Melvin,
There is a brief mention of this in the book “The Blitz, Then and Now” volume 2. Do you have the details as mentioned in said book?

Here we are then. Hope I’ve done justice to your original picture, Adrian. Incidently the caption in the book gives a different location to the one you mention in your post above, but it makes no difference to me.
