Hey folks
another day, another challenge, and TGIF !
What & where ? :diablo:
Martin
It’s too easy, that’s why nobody answer ! …
But then, he has never flown the Spitfire (any Spitfire), so can he be regarded a real warbird pilot by this Forum’s standards?
I surrender !!! ๐
Eric Voormezeel
When I met him at Gรณraszka two weeks ago, I told him the last time I saw ‘Old Crow’ fly was at Leuchars back in 1994. He smiled and said “Oh, that long ago? I wasn’t even born at the time.”
I know Eric for many years now. I’m proud to say that he is one of my friends. Yes he looks very young but I can tell you that ‘Old Crow’ is in very good and safe hands with him.
Eric, has several thousand of hours of experience, he is captain 767, 737; he flew A320, A330, T-6, Stearman, A-26, Skyraider, Stampe, Moth, Chipmunk, T-28, and many other types.
But over all other considerations, I flew with him and he his ones of those very few pilots that has this amazing feeling and skill who makes the all difference.
He is not THE pilot of “Old Crow” just by luck !
When you own such a plane, you do not chooze the first “junkey” to fly it.

An humble pilot of B-25J “Russell’s Raiders”
Lovely photos, thanks for showing us.
What do they own that is in NZ out of curiosity?
Sorry: classified !
Hi Albert,

I’m in charge of the technical file of that plane and I’m missing some documents dating before it’s delivery to france. If our B-25 is the one you work on it in Florida, you might have some very importante and usefull informations for us. Could you please contact me on Yves@jaf.ch
Thanks
Yves
Is that Frederic Vormezeele flying the plane?

About the futur
Indeed I do ๐
Re-enactment afficionados: any comments?
The owners of the B-25 HB-RDE and the T-28 HB-RCT, already based in Sion, also owns several other warbirds which are still based in different places in the world (South Africa, NZ, US, …). Discutions are on the way to build a new hangar and to welcome some more nice birds in Sion.
A stunning selection of photos, Yves. It’s very unusual to see a vintage aircraft framed by such a spectacular backdrop – a reminder of those that flew the mountain routes on ops.
I particularly liked the crew walk photo. I’m no expert on the subject, but the attention to detail on period clothing is commendable, + the mountain backdrop, and the dude in the jeep!
A couple of questions if I may:
Do you have a link for an associated website for the operation? Or can you summarise for us the main details?
Exactly how cold was it up there? ๐
Thanks for posting
You should appreciate those ones then ?

Last week, the temperature was ok at 12000 feet, around 10ยฐc in the cockpit. ๐
But for the ferry flight we made last january, we had -25ยฐc in the aircraft ! ๐ (We have removed all heating equipments)
PS: if you are a Seafurry fan: keep on looking to our association in the following months… ! ๐
Lovely pictures Yves, but can we have some more information on this aircraft? What is the civil registration, where is it based and who owns it? I am guessing you are in Switzerland, but perhaps this is the “Red Bull” B-25, as I don’t know of any others airworthy in Europe, except in France and Netherlands.
This one is the former F-AZID, now registered HB-RDE, based Sion Switzerland
B-25 Russell’s Raiders
Our B-25 is a B-25J, converted into TB-25N in 1944 then “reequiped” B-25J in 1945. The registry is HB-RDE and it’s based in Sion Swiss. The operator is “Jet Alpine Fighter”, the flying staff of Semalog SA.

This is very true !!!
Photos
We will ! ๐
And keep on looking to http://www.jaf.ch for hi-def pics and news !
PS: This is not a toy ! ๐ฎ This is a venerable Mitchell ! ๐ก
Yes but more detailed then mine.
This is “Ambri Piotta” former Swiss air Force base.
Look at the attached pic taken from the uper-turret, and you will see why their is a displaced treshold.
You understand as well why training on B-25 overthere was fun.
You can see the runway only when you turn on final.
