The fact is that the LCA ended up 1.5 tons overweight. It was simply one of the slippages/design flaws that happen on such projects, no point blaming it on the IAF. Their ‘revised’ specifications in this case are for the under-development Mk.2(auxiliary air intakes, greater AoA, AESA radar etc.).

This is far from truth.

Government had asked for proof of concept and sanctioned money in 1990’s.

LCA final specs were fixed by IAF in 2004. After that there has been no weight increase.

Weight increase is relative to initial specs back in 1980’s. Those specs were lose and have no relevance in 2010.

How significant is that argument ? The Rafale has very low RCS which atleast the French claim to be lower than fighters with an internal probe.

The original order for 28 Tejas mk.1s came under the condition that HAL/ADA develop the mk……s contemporaries just to support indigenous industry.

Must be a difficult job to stand on a slippery ground especially when you get pushed back and have to stand up again.

India could be the largest foreign operator of C-17, Super Hornet third phase of customer flight trials underway in US says Boeing

Mr. Mark E Kronenberg, Vice President, Boeing Defense, Space & Security said that .. “with the support of the US Navy and its industry partners, (Boeing) is proposing the latest version of our combat proven, multi-role Super Hornet fighter. As I speak, the third phase of customer flight trials is underway in the United Sates.”

Mr. Kronenberg said that just before the end of last year, India submitted to the US government a letter of request for 10 C-17 Globemasters, which if concluded would make India the largest single operator of this type outside the US . He added that C-17 and Chinook have proved invaluable assets in humanitarian and disaster relief mission. Other longer-term opportunities for Boeing in India include C41SR, intelligent security solutions and Airborne Early Warning & Control systems.
