Indian AEW aircraft are not only for covering the Pakistani border.
Then?
4)Compared to the percentage of pilots, it is obvious a greater portion of PAF have advanced foriegn training
last time they got trained in the basics of flying in the f-16 blk 50. There is no conclusive proof that PAF has more advanced training in US or Europe.
Take Brahmos JV, India gets to manufacture only the container of missile and fuel tanks. The seeker and engine comes from Russia. Only now engine might be made in India. This is also supposed to be 50:50 joint venture. In which India gives practically 100% of the money/orders while Russia gets to manufacture practically 100% of the missile components
Everything is made in India. Seeker is Indian, now with the JV.
The fact is that the LCA ended up 1.5 tons overweight. It was simply one of the slippages/design flaws that happen on such projects, no point blaming it on the IAF. Their ‘revised’ specifications in this case are for the under-development Mk.2(auxiliary air intakes, greater AoA, AESA radar etc.).
This is far from truth.
Government had asked for proof of concept and sanctioned money in 1990’s.
LCA final specs were fixed by IAF in 2004. After that there has been no weight increase.
Weight increase is relative to initial specs back in 1980’s. Those specs were lose and have no relevance in 2010.
more news to debunk the BS that certain posters were talking about.
So maybe the IAF is now trying to base Mirage-2000s far away from the border so they won’t have to intercept any enemy fighters, huh ?
The simple fact is that the IAF now wants to develop bases in the peninsular region as well to allow the IN and IAF to operate far from the mainland.
M2K could be a good option in south based threats and the MRCA can be employed in the current places. They have said “in future.” Most probably, M2K’s will start shifting to south as and wen the MRCA arrives.
Expect a 7-10 year period for all these.
How significant is that argument ? The Rafale has very low RCS which atleast the French claim to be lower than fighters with an internal probe.
Must have been LCA specific comment, not to be extrapolated with others.
HAL excels in only one thing :- copy produce under licence. Whether they do it for IAF or for exports, doesn’t matter. It is their CORE corporate philosophy.
I totally disagree. it does a bad job even production under license. But again, its a DPSU. No pint talking what it can do or cannot. More important is what its doing now and what its future is. No matter what, HAL is going to be the key production unit for fighters and more types. No matter how much you degrade it in forums or press or anywhere else.
The original order for 28 Tejas mk.1s came under the condition that HAL/ADA develop the mk……s contemporaries just to support indigenous industry.
Must be a difficult job to stand on a slippery ground especially when you get pushed back and have to stand up again.
Its evolving as per requirement, Israeli Popeye is one of them.
BAE Systems to provide mission computer systems for Indian Navy P-8I patrol aircraft
BAE Systems’ mission computer system suite for the P-8I is a flexible and ruggedized processing platform that can be configured to meet the general purpose, input and output, video, voice, and graphics processing needs for modern military battle management requirements.
Mr. Mark E Kronenberg, Vice President, Boeing Defense, Space & Security said that .. “with the support of the US Navy and its industry partners, (Boeing) is proposing the latest version of our combat proven, multi-role Super Hornet fighter. As I speak, the third phase of customer flight trials is underway in the United Sates.”
Mr. Kronenberg said that just before the end of last year, India submitted to the US government a letter of request for 10 C-17 Globemasters, which if concluded would make India the largest single operator of this type outside the US . He added that C-17 and Chinook have proved invaluable assets in humanitarian and disaster relief mission. Other longer-term opportunities for Boeing in India include C41SR, intelligent security solutions and Airborne Early Warning & Control systems.
Other 5th gen models exist in Russia. And who knows that Ukrain must have inherited from Russia to pass on to China.
