MCA is a “research project” or “technology demonstrator.” It has got nothing to do with other FGFA’s. GoI would like to keep it as a hedge. It depends on IAF if it would ike to make MCA as a live project or not.
Indian Navy tests short range ballastic missile
DHANUSH Missile (a Naval Version of PRITHVI) has been successfully launched from INS Subhadra off Orissa Coast at 1135 hrs on 12 Dec 2009.
DHANUSH Missile has reached the target at 350 km range with pin point accuracy. Two Naval Ships located near the target have tracked and witnessed the splash.
Radar Systems of ITR located along the coast have monitored the total trajectory and have confirmed all the parameters meeting the requirements. The DHANUSH Missile is a liquid propelled single stage system with a diameter of 1 metre and length of 10 metre weighing 6 Tons had already been inducted into the Indian Navy. This is part of the training exercise and was launched completely by Indian Navy. DRDO Scientists were present to oversee these operations.
Dr VK Saraswat, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri & Director General of Dept of Defence R&D, Maj Gen PC Karbanda, Dy National Security Adviser and Rear Adm CS Patham Dy Commander-in-Chief of Strategic Forces Command witnessed the launch from same INS Subhadra Ship. Dr VK Saraswat congratulated the Indian Navy & DRDO Teams for the successful launch.
Sorry what are you talking about?
Replying to frankvw.
Looks like capable nations are now producing to sell it to others. I see proliferation in nearer time than in future. Nations don’t have the luxury of captive consumption any more.
I used worry over MiG-25 retirement in India. But this gives some hope. Enemies will miss sonic booms in future.
Probably avoiding Pakistani radars.
Last time LCA was in Arrakonam, it had flight envelop (opening issues). This time it opened up all flight envelops.
I wonder how many MMRCA type procurement programs actually picked up a winner aircraft.
You are right. India should immediately disband its air force. Its really useless.
😀 Quantity vs Quality debate!
If the future Indian Air defence Doctrine require less type/mission aircraft in service.
The MKI would indeed manage the medium range ac mission too..
It is debetable, but it can be done.
You would certanly save a lot of money..Thanks
Actually future is very far away. The need of the hour is (may be till 2025) upgrading M2K. There is a lot of expertise and infrastructure built around it. A lot of squadrons have to be filled too.
I don’t think retiring them is a solution. Its more potent than a lot of enemy aircrafts flying around. MKI will waste time and energy splashing them.
[QUOTE=Twisted;1497244]Why do I get the feeling you dislike England?
What gives you that idea?
A new Sukhoi Su-30MKI is running at US$ 45-60 million (depending on package), which begs the question as to what is the point of mirage upgrade for US$ 40million each?
A single seat ac and a 2 seat ac. A mid range ac and a long range ac. Different technologies. few reasons.
Oh, why the debate? UK can code its own software. Other day folks were claiming that they can build off the shelf Tridents. 😮
You should hand it to them…… What ever UK does is perfect and has a “English” logic.
