My friend seemed to be under the impression that it might happen this time.

Got an e-mail this moring. PIA were looking for details on 777 parking and charges.

A 777 would suggest to me that GLA would be used as a stop-off to a USA destination. If it was just Pakistan-GLA-Pakistan I would have expected the A310. Good news if true. GLA could see 3 777’s a day if this comes true for next Summer.

As for the PIA rumour…? That’s been going for absolutely ages and still no resolution, commitment or confirmation.

Ah yes, but this appears to be new info, so perhaps we will se a PIA aircraft in Scotland sometime soon. Wasn’t a new CEO recently appointed at PIA?

Thanks for the info btw Bmused

Well we knew of EK’s interest ages ago. The bit about Zoom however is interesting. The 3rd aircraft is irrelevant as I would imagine their Summer schedule to be full but I think a 4th aircraft, again from KLM, is also due, I don’t know if its due for this Summer or next. I wouldn’t expect anything until next year anyway, but it would seem Zoom and trying to dominate the UK-Canada market. Hopefully this comes true.

Another superb set of shots from this evening! What camera are you using btw?

Thanks, not my best bunch ever but I blame the weather. I only uploaded as I new A.net would reject them 😉 I have had many great shots rejected so I think I’ll use this site in future. I use the 300D with a 200mm lens.

Indeed it was, although it was allegedly going to be a 773 ? 😉

The 773 was scheduled up until last week. I was told on Monday that it had changed. Today’s 772 was in a high density config and tomorrow’s is in a low density config. I have quite a few good shots of the landing, hopefully on A.net soon but as you say the weather for the take-off was typical 😉

As far as I am aware this will be a Low Cost Airline airport. The goverment there doesnt want LCCs getting in the way and taking up slots at DXB.

I don’t think so. This airport is going to be HUGE.

“When completed, the airport will have the capacity to handle 120 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo annually.”
