    Great news if it’s true!
The second UK order after First Choice – this could be a popular replacement for the charter airlines’ fleets of 757/767.

flyGlobespan are leasing 2 from ILFC, this was announced a week or so ago.

He’s saying that he doesn’t think a B737 will be used on the route even though it technically would be possible to do.

    🙂

757 maybe, but a 738 would drop into the water just short of the USA

Boeing.com Maximum Range 3,060 nautical miles (5665 km)

    Great Circle Mapper

    From To Distance
    GLA (55°52’19″N 04°25’59″W) BOS (42°21’52″N 71°00’19″W) 4876 km

    Time

    5:51

That is with a 120 min ETOPS route. Bearing in mind GSM’s 738’s have winglets, I think it could quite easily make GLA-BOS, obviously wind dependant. GSM did GLA-HRG last year which was also a 5 hour + flight.

I don’t think the 737 will fly the route, but I think it can.

767!? Why?? Somehow i don’t see the need for one on the GLA-BOS route, 757 or 738 looks much more reasonable

They won’t fill a daily 767, if there is on onward connections at BOS!

I think they will be relying on the fact that if the price is right then many people will decide to fly to the destination. Just look at FR, a lot of the places they fly to you will never have heard of, but as the price is low enough people fly there.

Again they are taking a risk in offering it daily, but the same goes for SFB (fair enough its a lot more popular for holiday makers than BOS) but they managed to achieve 87% loads on GLA-SFB-GLA in July which I think is quite remarkable.

So if they can get a partnership with say JetBlue then I think the route could be made to work. Especially if B6 do some good advertising at their end.

To ask a question I asked on another thread… Will the 739ER have suitable ETOPS rating for say a leg like GLA-BOS ?

ETOPS isn’t a qualification type thing for each airfract type (although I think Boeing are now proudcing ETOPS ready aircraft?). Most modern twin engined jets can get some form of ETOPS if teh airline wants it. So if GSM want to fly GLA-BOS on a 738W then there won’t be much of a problem in getting the aircraft certified, assuming its not already.

*I’m 99% certain on that but if theres something incorret then please feel free to point it out*

    Obviously

    :O All I can see is a 777 and sky 😉

parked at the wee car park near the bridge (sorry dont know road name), walked along about 100 yards and was stood at the bridge, the brick bridge as opposed to the big metal one close by, dunno if that makes sense!!

using my trusty 99 quid Canon EF 70-300mm SD(steam driven) 😀

Yeh I know where you mean. Don’t think I’ve ever shot from the bridge. I tried a few from the car park once but didn’t tihnk the results were too good.

With a name like Hugh Boyle I sense Glaswegian origins, so wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where his UK loyalties lie.

    1L.

Yeh i think the Boyle brothers are from Glasgow. But i’m sure i read on Pprune that this will be a LGW based long haul airline.

any one find it a bit odd how this guy just shows up when the thread starts??

Its not hard. A link was posted to flysunjet’s website, you can just track who is visiting the site. So obviously he (or someone in his team) have noticed this forum and decided to say hello.

For example if you are a photographer on A.net and someone posts a link to your photo on another website, you can see where it was posted. I can even see where my EDI forum has been linked month by month.

    Jon

No, GLA-LAS is operating for the first time this year after switching from PIK. I think it is operating for 5 weeks doing MAN-GLA-LAS-GLA-MAN.
