I think a figure of £40 million was mentioned at some point:)
The producers are gonna destroy a ( TRUE ) war time classic. There is no way that I’d ever watch the remake of this great Classic. This film will be a load of ( ******** ).
Hmmm…
Hi Robert
You won’t know if they do or not as your not going to be watching it, but Jackson is going to use newly declassified War Office documents to ensure the authenticity of the film is not compromised, plus he also has the last living pilot of the strike team, Les Munro, who has joined the production crew in Masterton as technical adviser.
Whats with all this negativity about CGI, the majority of people don’t realise if anything is real or not nowerdays as it’s so good, most of the car adverts we see are not real, there’s even a food advert thats totally CGI that is unnoticeable from real, they made the change over a year ago now and nobody is up in arms…
Anyway it’s just a remake of something that was done before, they’re not remaking a copy of the original film, word, action and frame perfect in every minute detail, its a telling of the same story, but different… Can’t that be done then, that first time telling is the best there will ever be…
God only knows how we would ever have got out of the stone age if we had thought like that…
I for one am looking forward to it!
“The Whirlwind stuff is very cool, I particularly like the first set of retro posters!”
Thank you, Matt Painter is responsible for those, they’re based on the actual CAD Whirly…
Here’s a real retro look…

Original WFV Poster to be altered for new WFP poster
Your a day late…:highly_amused:
Ha!…
Funny thing is, if I’d wanted that to happen, the whole thing would have crashed and burned by the third post…
This Packard deal to produce Peregrines under licence to Rolls-Royce to upgrade them to produce 985 hp
Just about everything in the new Whirly Book by Mr Franks about Petters Mark II Whirlwind, shown in the part Jerry has highlighted are just a fabrication, based on day-dreams and an uneventful hour waiting for paint to dry back in 2008 by your truly…
The damming evidence is here:
How it got where it is now in plain black & white, is beyond me and the Chinese Whisperers…
Perhaps I should have taken a career change and become a politician, as it seems everyone, or nearly everyone would believe every word I said…
And just to showcase one of a series of 4 WFP Whirlwind images, reminiscent of late 1930 aviation advertisements of the time, skilfully crafted by Mr Matt Painter, our resident CGI Artist.
Copies may be purchased in the theatre foyer…

This is the baby… :eagerness:
We’ve been knocking some idea’s about Whirlwind models since the begining of the project, one of the favorites using the CAD Whirlwind would be to make say in 1/32 or even 1/25 scale a complete Whirlwind from the ground up, so with Kit 1 you’d start with the main internal structure, then Kit 2 would be according to the builders choice the ancillery units (Engine’s, undercarridge, cockpit etc… ) Kit 3 would be the exterior panels…
Then there’s desk-top models, using 3d printing a 1/72 scale Whirlwind would have all the detail that a full size replica would have, right down to a smallest screw, these could be either in wood or metal…
Then at last there’s a comic Whirlwind, not a kit, comes complete with working undercarridge, propeller’s and wheels, one for the kids, which will probably be the first to be released…

There is a very good possibility that a Whirlwind Fighter could very easily be produced in fibreglass, we have Gunnar’s Solidworks CAD Whirlwind to base a CNC foam replica, complete with all the external detailing and split into separate units, which would then be spray coated with resin and used as a buck from which moulds can be made to reproduce the fibreglass panels…

Hi Alan…
Yes, I know of that one, as I put it there myself to make it easier for people to hear, rather than having to download it… 😉
For ease it’s now on YouTube…
Hmmm…
Thanks for the insight showing Leica approach to this, P&P
Seems a right pain in the b#tt using vulcanite though, would be a lot easier to apply if the material was supple to begin with, but shrink and go brittle when heated…
Know of such thing?
Stu…
Ha!
Yes, spade grips as well…
Hows it put on then, a separate sheet thats cut and glued on or sprayed/dipped?
