A few more…
Talking of old adverts etc, I assume you have seen content-delivery website which has a dedicated section here :-

Keith.
D’oh! 🙂 Brilliant thank you for that Keith!
Lovely stuff – talking of ads is anyone aware of anywhere old Airline posters can be bought? I’ve been collecting more modern stuff for a few years but woud like to purchase some 40’s / 50’s/or 60’s originals – I know they exist but have never been able to find any. PM appreciated if this breaks rules on advertising!! !!:)
Well I got mine off Ebay, a quick search brought me this…
Have’nt got the one you want, but have these… 😉
Steve.
Found these…
Moggy C
What’s in it for them?
Answers please on a postcard.
I hear you Moggy, I know the reasons you’ve given are valid, I agree with you, but it doesn’t make it feel right… 😡
I’m acting like a kid I know, whose thrown all his toys out of the pram in frustration and rage for not getting what he wants…:)
When I originally heard about this project, it made my heart sing, well not quite, but I was very happy to think that someone was out there willing to stop another part of our aviation heritage being lost, to keep her from the scrappers torch.
Brilliant! 😉 🙂
But a little voice deep down did wonder how this was going to be paid for, how the fuel, parts, insurance etc, to keep her in the air would be funded?
Its just a crying shame to see all that work come to a grinding stop because of not being able to find a viable way to continue her funding…
B#gger! 🙁
I despair…
All the millionaire entrepreneurs that are in the world, you would think they would be falling over themselves to have their company logos over such an iconic machine… Sir Alan Sugar, Richard Branson, even Bill Gates for Christ sake what’s £600.000 pa to the like of those… 😡

Would you give a tenner a month to keep this Vulcan flying…?
I know I would…:)
Find another 4,999 like minded people and its sorted…;)
If thats not achievable then shes not loved as much as we thought…
Pitiful…:(
Steve about your query about the Dieppe Raid markings for your Whirlybomber, I found this little snippet in my “odds and sods” folder, I can’t remember where it came from or wether its true either… 🙁
No special markings for Dieppe. The application of these markings is recorded in some Squadrons ORB and the date is early July 1942.The plans were dropped and “Operation Jubilee” succeeded it in August.
A white nose and black bands on the wing tips, are markings applied for the last “full-scale” test of some of the strategies planned for the forthcoming invasion. This was “Operation Starkey” which took place during mid-September 1943. Single-engined planes taking part had 2 black and 2 white stripes painted around the outer part of the wings only, while twin-engined planes had a white-painted nose, as well. This applied mainly to Bostons and Whirlwinds. There is a photo of a Whirlwind with these markings in N.Frank’s “Fighter Command Losses 1943”.
When I next go to AW, I shall try and fit in a meeting with Fred…..I think I might have confused the forum…my photo shows an original windscreen etc…the 1/4 I refer to is a 1/4 cockpit using those parts…i.e. real screen, panel, stick etc….1/1 scale:)
You little tinker you…;)
1/3, ¼, ¾… This is the same situation I found when trying to get a accurate Whirly 3D model made for the Sturmovik flight sim, plenty of skilled people to make all that was needed to finish a 3D CGI working model, but all using different formats… Each piece crafted to perfection, beautiful on its own, but useless when put together! 😡
We could all of us contribute to making this happen, but unless there is a cohesion of information and peoples skills it will never be… 🙁 All this wonderful effort could be utilised to make so much more… 😉
Time is running out, the one thing that could be the greatest resource in making a Whirlwind replica is not going to be with us forever… Fred Ballam! The only man I know who actually worked at Westlands on some of the last Whirlwinds made… 🙁
Of course then again the TSR2 had its brother across the pond go the same way… 😉
Interesting radio clip…

Get yourself “TSR2 The Untold Story” from Classic British Jets… Be warned though, something that was done and dusted when I had just turned 5 has, after seeing this documentary, left me with a feeling of anger how such a technological achievement as the TSR2 could be thrown on the scrap heap…
It’s said that both the British Government and the RAF did not believe that the British Aviation Industry could bring the TSR2 Program to fruition, or to put it simply, they had no faith in their country’s aircraft industry…
All in all an excellent buy, but don’t forget to get a box of Cleanex for yourself as well, you’ll need it!
It might be just my imagination but I’m pretty sure I recall seeing a mock up of Concorde in RAF markings.
Bomber?
Stand off missile carrier?
Super Blairforce One type?Whatever, it would have been cool x power N….

It’s all out there… 😉 The problem is in finding it…
