if u want the wildlife to stop this kind of behavior, its best to amr british police, then they’ll have a choice.;)

good, but too expansive.
depends on what u want.
if u just want a BVR platform, the the J8II with zhuk is the best option. u can get the airframe for like $2m, another $1.5m for the radar and BVRAAMs and ur good to go.
if u want a purely WVR fighter, the the J7PG/MG. vastly improved manoverability over the mig21 and F5 for about the same price.
if u want an all rounder, then i’d say the Su27SMT (or whatever the upgrade was called).
if u want an all rounder that’s also stealthy, the F35 if the costs dont skyrocket.
if u want an ac to rule the skies, the F22. costs a hell of alot, but nothing else can touch it.
from the pictures, it looks like the designers cut and pasted the FC-1’s front onto the JJ7’s rear to make this plane.;)
the makers are desperate to sell as many to anyone who wants to buy it (the PAF is seen as a major potential buyer), however the PLAAF seems to be holding off its decision until the L15 is finished so that it can stage a fligh off and select the best one.
i believe the PAF would like to buy the JL9, as the FC-1 is still without a twin seat verson. but it is reluctent to do so because of it budgetary contraints and by the fact the the PLAAF seems to prefer the L15 even though its not finished.
as for the K8. well that was designed as a basic/intermediate jet trainer, whereas the L15 and JL9 are designed as advanced trainers. the K8 could be improved to become an advanced trainer, but it probably wont be as good as the JL9 or L15, and would likely take just as long if not more to finish, so there is really no point.
“The apache has enough armour but a simple RPG can get it down…”
well, sh!t happens. sometimes ppl just get lucky. (remeber the apachie that was claimed to have been downed by a farmer with a bult action rifle? if the iraqi information minister was to be believed.:D )
the point is, the more armour and more redundent systems u have, the less likely ppl will get a lucky shot and bring u down. its the difference between coming home looking like this and not coming home at all.;)
looks ‘evil’……as an attack helo should look.:D 😉
so, am i correct in guessing that these babies will be rushed to chechneya?
😮 oppst, just noticed ‘england’ on the list, which is part of Great Britain…
cool, do u know how much the type 1471 costs?
well guess that’s another door closed. if the PLAAF decided to mate the J8II with the zhuk, then maybe mig could have convinced them to upgrade the whole avionics suit with the one intended for the mig29SMT and piggyback the development costs that way.
another more far fetched option would be to push for the export licence and offer a similar avionics and radar suit to the PAF for their FC-1s. they could do the same thing as with the engine and have the system funded by, and exported to china, who would then pass on the system to the PAF.
like i said, a far fetch idea that will most likely fall through, especially seeing how the IN has just placed an order for mroe fulcrums.
with all due respect, but just because u can see the polits head from the outside dont mean the pilot would be able to see well from the inside. the front windsheild cant be that much bigger then portholes in most ships, and sitting 30cm from a porthole looking out doesnt really off very good visbility.
the overall visabilty is no doubt much better then that of looking through a ship’s porthole as the pilot would have the abilty to see from both sides, but that would give a rough idea of what the frontal visbility is like.
hmm, J8IIs with the zhuk would make a very interesting ac. almost a mini-mig31.
they can spearhead any air engagement and take advantage of the zhuk’s multi-target engagement ability to off-load large numbers of BVRAAMs at enemy formations to rattle them and maybe drain the enemy of some BVRAAMs. then bail out using its fast speed, and let the more capable fighters mop up while they reture to base to re-arm and go again.
but with the massive and ever increasing PLAAF flanker and now J10 inventory, it does not seem to be nessecary to rely on such tactics.
pssst, egypt doesnt appear to have anything from britain. four out of five isnt bad either.;)
well that was a given.;)
its always a compramise of the two, but judging form the Ka50/52’s canopy, i assumed that the russians could design a canopy which offered a similar level of protection with much better visability.
anyways, with all the new sensors that this helo has, i would think the emphysis should have changed from charging into a hotspot all guns blazing and counting on the enemy to expose himself and on ur armer to stop u from being shot down before u can kill him, to one of finding ur enemy with ur superior sensors and engaging him outside his effective weapons range, in which case good visabilty is prefered.
