frustrating thing is this stupid forum database only records dates up to a point, 1/1/00, anyone that joined earlier are put down under that date, so half the forum community is supposed to have joined on teh same day.

thats hwy i want to try and find out who was here first.

since the original way seems not to be working, lets change the rules. could anyone that joined before the ‘cut off’ date please try and remeber when they joined.

    i think i joined in december 1999.

“Yep, very well – they suffered two times larger losses with two times better helos condition (I mean second war in Chechnya).”

as for the RPG attacks, well they seem to occur in urban areas during US ops when helos are flying low or hovering to give cover or recon, so they can be easy targets. helos on transit missions are very rarely brought down, with the exception of the chinook that was hit by and MANPAD IIRC.

my impression is that US forces come under more attacks then we are led to beleive by the nightly news. its only when soilders are killed that attacks are reported, otherwise it is just unreported or at least given very little promonence.

if u take this into account, then the US losses would seem to just be statistical certainties. maybe 10 helos are shot at, but one is unlucky to be hit at important places and goes down. given the helo losses the russians suffered in chechneya, i’d say the americans are doing quite well in terms of helos being downed.

“well i am just intrigued by the use of those stabalisers on Chinese aircraft.”

    its not a chinese a/c.

and big stabalisers is just the charateristic of such designs, the US galaxy’s also use a similar design.

    i stand (sit?) corrected.

wonder why they would choose the 76 as a platform.

looks a lot like the An50. im guessing that this is probably based more on the imagination of the artist then reality.
