Nice pictures rab, looks like you know how to use the new camera now.
Hope to soon see a picture of the Danube ATR72 that brough FC Utrecht to Glasgow today.

Some very nice compositions and exposures there. And hey, we all shoot what we can get in front of our lenses.
I would have to drive 120 KM up to Den Helder in the north of Holland to get this kind of action.

Hi Cloudwarrior
Nice panning shots. I also had some reduction of quality with photobucket the last half year.
I do not think it matters how and from where you upload your pictures, but photobucket applies its own compression to the photo’s.
Sometimes days or weeks after the photo has been uploaded, looks like they are saving on storage space.
The only thing that seems to help is reducing the file size of your upload. In otherwords carefully controll the compression yourself.
I don’ t know what triggers the compression by photobucket but if you are using less space (and bandwith) to start with there is less reason for heavy handed compression by them.

hi Rab
I think the ISO100 pictures look sharper then the ISO400 ones.
I would go for the lower ISO’s if possible, any shutterspeed above 1/500 is usually good to stop motion blur in my experience, depending on the amount of zoom off-course.
Also there is not much difference between F8 and F9 in terms of lens performance (sharpness) so you can also open up a bit more (F8) on that side to get the ISO down.
Otherwise happy shooting with the new camera.

Hey guy’s, have a good look at the title of the topic.
For the youngsters amongst us this is what the talk is about
1 767 is parked in Victorville, California, the other two are with Jordan Aviation (at least till the end of last year)

Nice set of pictures, I like the Saga B737.
We don’t get that airline at Amsterdam.

Hi Jonathan,
I like the setting of your pictures, the Jet2 in front of the town is very nice!
I think your pictures could use some more sharpness though, from looking at the exif of the pictures I see you are using a good camera (Canon 400D) but you have it set at Aperture preset with what is probably the largest opening of your lens: 4.0 till 5.0 in all three pictures. This results in high shutterspeeds of 1/2000th this will certainly stop any movement blur but the large opening of the aperture makes that your lens produces “soft” images
Most lenses produce their sharpest results at aperture F8 till F11, If you try this F8 you will still have a high enough shutterspeed but you will see a noticable increase in the quality of your picture.
Hope this helps, kind regards

Nice pictures and good catch Keith
As tehthije writes UT is is a rapidly growing Russian airline. They are not new last year and they are not from the Ukraine.
Ut air is from the Tyumen region. I think they changed their name from Tyumen Avia Trans to Ut Air somewhere around 2002.
They have a fleet of An26, Tu134, Tu 154, Mi8 and Mi26 and since several years B737-500 and ATR42. They must be the biggest operator at Moscow Vnukovo airport but they only have a few services outside Russia (Munich and Dusseldorf I think). This year they have aded B757 and there is a steady stream of former Lufthansa CRJ200 being repainted to their colors.
This one was painted at Amsterdam

UNCOMFIRMED reports say that parts of the engine were found on the runway at Amsterdam.
This could indicate that at least part of the damage did not occur till during the landing (deployment of thrust reverser?).
The same report also speaks of damage to the flaps, consistent with the same theory that the engine did come apart till the landing.

Hi John
Colors do not look bad but I think the picture of the 737 is wat over saturated. Have a look in the menu’s if the saturation is cranked up.
It isn’t in the last picture though so I do not know if you changed things in the post processing already.
Perhaps you should try a return to factory defaults.
I have seen some great results from 400d’s so this can’t be a bad camera, have fun with it!
