[QUOTE=cloud_9;1059956]That is not what I have heard…
I heard that a Monarch flight due to depart from MAN to Spain was delayed due to technical problems, so they decided to re-route the aircraft from Lapland to land at MAN so they could get the flight to Spain out, avoiding the possibility of it being cancelled overnight.
Rickt – The flight was due to be terminated in MAN due to technical problems, in the end the pax had a 3 hour delay waiting for another a/c to be flown in. It’s better to inconvenience 83 pax compared to 310!!!
Monarch are not getting any MD-11’s. In the mean time, they are looking for 767’s or A330’s.

What do you hope to show from this survey?
Series now ops on 757 and reskd. Your tour operator will advise new schedule.
321BL 3 weeks late into service, and AB6NR late off maint. You forgot to add the GSM 767 that is flying for us today.

If you look back to the thread you started last month about the a/c type on the route, you’ll see most of your questions answered there. MARA and OJEG are charter 321’s until the 30th April, when they both operate in 214y config.
From 01May all Monarch 321’s will be in 214 config, with extra leg room seating avail at the front of the aircraft.
The MON1288/9 will be operated by a 321.
Monarch FBW pilots can operate 320/321 and 332.
It sounds like the route that AV8 was due to operate 2 years ago. That route then involved a couple of tech stops.
Why are they selling? I know that engineering regulations are changing soon, to become tougher. Best you check it out.
The interesting thing is, that to operate the day2 GRO and day5 BCN, the A/C has to posn from and to GLA/PIK. I dont think at £15, they will make enough money to sustain these routes. However they may prove us wrong.
The 4 fear of flying courses on Monarch are all scheduled for 30mins. The A.C.M.I rate for a 757 is approx £2100 pbh, so the costs that andrewm quotes for an aircraft lease are too high. All you need to schedule is 30mins to 1hour, there is no point in going up for longer incase they haven’t conquered their fear. Also when Monarch operated the flight last sunday out of LTN, there were only 90 pax onboard.
Monarch are currently operating some on behalf of Virgin, and are using the 757 and 321. It all depends on demand, sub-charter rates and aircraft avail.
DE is joining Monarch in April
