Thanks all for the kind comments. I think the vapour in the Lightning intake is caused when full throttle is applied and there is a sudden drop in air pressure in the intake. This causes any moisture in the air to condense out into vapour. I think the same happens if you suddenly have rapid decompression in a pressurised aircraft. Also you sometimes see vapour condensing out in the low pressure area above an aircrafts wing especially when travelling at high speed or sharp turns. Or I could be completly wrong in my theory
I’m not a fan of turbulance. I did some flying from Goodwood in the 80’s in stonking hot weather. I must say the 152 I was learning on did manage some rather interesting aerobatics without any input from me. Used to scare me witless 🙂
That baby Mustang is superb. Nice shots 🙂 Noted the blimp too. What was that up too ?
Nice – like your shots
I can imagine the wind being a bit difficult – I noted a lot of side slipping on approach to Abingdon. I was at Popham last Monday and again the wind was making things interesting for the visiting pilots at 20 – 25 knots.
Very nice sharp shots. Really like the Merlin with Didcot in the background.
Interesting take on the day – what were you flying ?? I was there in the crowd way after the Vulcan flew by.
Thank you all for you kind comments they are much appreciated.
Very nice – especially the Provost and Pembroke. Thanks. No Vulcan??
The Vulcan was there but I can never seem to get a good shot !!
What on earth was that glider doing? and how high was it?
Guy Westgate perforformed some absolutely stunning aero’s at very low level. Cant quite recall which part of the routine this was where he was nose down as in the shot.
No T6?;)
Like the Vulcan I did not get a good shot of the T6.
Sorry I dont have the names but I am told there will be about a dozen of them with more attending on 7th August for a similiar event.
Thanks for looking and yes that gnat was different and showed me they can paint new scheme’s on planes just like cars Mike. Thanks for the compliment Richard on the copies and as I just looked at both your sites I know from the standard of your copies(good) you understand the malarky involved.
By the way the lancaster with engines running night shot is brilliant:)So well taken.I will check your site out for updates in the future. In the mean time good luck with the shows and your copying…Cheers..John.B:)
Thank you John for the comments – very much appreciated. R.
Its nice to hear positive comments regarding 724 such as the recent posts above. I visited Binbrook in Nov 10 and met a chap there who was working on her. It was humbling meeting this man on a windswept Binbrook doing what he could to maintain the aircraft. Lets hope more can be done to help. Alas I live too far away in the far South Of England otherwise I would be there doing my bit.
Some nice scans there. I from experience know it is not easy getting good quality scans from 35mm film shots. You have done a good job – well done.
Very nice shots – I went between Christmas and New Year and the show was working in the BOB Hall. It went on the blink as I was there. Did get some shots despite the very low light.
Thanks for the kind comments – appreciate it. 🙂
Superb shots Brian. I especially like the Meteor with the remove before flight flag blowing in the wind.
