Trying again, this time with thumbnails.
As for the RNoAF Bell 412SPs. The one I posted belongs to one of our two Huey squadrons. This is the 720 Sqd which operate six choppers more or less purely for spec ops and international deployment. They are painted in a much darker scheme than the rest of our Huey fleet. The 12 rest are part of 339 Sqd which uses them in the traditional as army support and are painted in a more clearly camoflage pattern.
I visited a local airshow recently, called the “Midnight Sun Airshow 2006” at Bardufoss AFB which is the homebase to the 339 Sqd. They had collected a stunning number of 15 out of the total of 18 412’s we operate, and showed them flying in various missions ranging from FAC insertion, anti-terror drop-off and regular army support. And in the end, all 15 machines joined up in a massive formation. Just too bad the midnight sun was hiding behind the clouds.
Here are some pictures I took:
Opening up the airshow as a formation conducted by 4 Saab Safaris, 5 Lynx Mk. 86 and the 15 Bell 412SPs mentioned.
After this one 412 came flying in and landed on a platform to be towed to the static display. Notice the brighter camouflage which indicated that it belongs to the 339 Sqd.
Another bird did some low altitude manouvering right infront of the crowd.
Slow speed with a beatiful scenery as a perfect background.
And both of the birds leaving back to base a couple of 100 meters away.
One ‘spec-ops’ 412 came flying in along a Lynx to drop a counter terrorist unit to take out some bad-guys in a car.
Before taking the operators back to base.
Hanging under the bird in a so called spider-tow.
This picture gave a nice ‘Nam-feeling. The 6 birds came in low, and some of them dropped of FACs for the upcoming F-16 ‘bombing run’ (nice pyrotechnics).
Before the last formation flying could take place, the static 412 had to return to the air from the same way it came. Off the platform.
Here they are. The time is 1AM, but sadly we didnt get to see a midnight sun tonight. Note the Bird Dog acting as camera plane.
Nice. I like the Su-33/Su-33UB comparison!
You dont have them in a higher resolution version?
Gauntlet your pics didn’t work can you try them again?
Weird. Does anyone else have the same problem, ’cause it works fine for me.
Imageshack usually are a reliable hoster.
Indeed, great pictures Banshee! 🙂

Same.

Before they turned away.
And speeded out of sight.

The first nine machines.
And the last six.
So these are in service along the Maxdomes? With the exact same mission equipment?
You forgot:
Norway AF Bell 412SP:

May not fit what you had in mind, but maybe a couple of Warbirds like the P-51, Spit, Bf 109, Yak-9 and Zero just for comparison.
Dmitrij, he said one pic!

This would have to be one of my favourite pics/fighter:

The MiG-29SMT izdeliye 9.18.
According to this page, two airframes were modified from Il-76MDs to the Il-76VKP, namely CCCP/RA-76450 and -76451.
Found more pics:

The last one shows the IL-82s together with the IL-80s, so it seems that they have the same missions.
Found another Maxdome picture. It is the RA-86147:

Nice comparison, but arent the Hip a little too big on that chart…?
Pciture Ive takne myself:

Obviously the Norwegian Fridjof Nansen class:
And the Skjold class:![]()
I mean, who can resist 60 knots of lethal metal?
Disregarding the obvious bias towards Norway, I realy like the Udaloy-II. Combined the nice orginal Udaloy with among others the Sunburn missiles.
