^that could be an good alternative. Also if I’m not mistaken the Brazilian Hawks are already updated & called Fightinghawk instead of Skyhawk (or it could be the Argentinian ones)
I agree, the USN is betting to much on one card.
IMO it would have been much more whise to go with an intermedia design between the Burke & the DDX, in order to spred research cost & field test equipment.
Maybe some of the latest Build Burkes could have been already this intermedia type of ships.
^Agreed. Brazil just decided to go for an update for there Mirages since they couldn’t aford new planes for the Air Force so I don’t see the A4s replaced anytime soon before the Air Force planes get replaced.
At most the A4s could recive an Israel Update as well.
yes, but life has also taught us to not profocate other unnecessarily.
Brahmos is out of question for the Chilean Navy.
Chile thinking of adquiring it was only publsihed by the Indian news (Chile is thinking of adquiring the Indian LAH).
The Brahmos is not feasable becouse of several reasons.
1st ther is the sice. How do you install a Brahmos Launch pod on a M, L or Type 23 or 23 class FFG?.
& even if you could, by installing them in place of the Harpoon/Excocet Pods, you would downsiece the number of SSM from 8 to 2 or max 4.
2nd there is the implicitie that the Brahmos is a crouse missile & much mroe offensive then the Harpoon or Excocet. Chiles neighbours wouldn’t take it to well.
Finaly part of Chileans surface attack capabiliy relays on the capability to deploy there Excocets via the Superpuma. With the Brahmos that wouldn’t be able neather.
With the arrival of the L, M & Type 22 FFGs Chile will be dismissing there Leander FFGs & County DDHs. Both ship types use currently Excocet Missiles (which where installed afterward).
But it is much more practicle for the Chilean Navy to Adquire Harpoons Missiles & sell the remaining Excocets, then to Change the systems of the “new” ships to Excocet.
The Final Request of Harpoon IIs will be at the end propably much higher then only 20, reaching up to 40 or even 60.
Building maybe not (or at least not the moment), but they are defenetly refiting the ex Russian one & getting it ready for operation.
Well, one problem less for the US.
Until now they always had the problem that they needed/whanted to have a carrier forward deployed in Japan, but that it couldn’t be nuclear at the same time.
Problem becouse the Kitty Hawk is coming into its years already & it would have been very unpropable that the US would have developed a Convetnional carrier just to forward deploy it.
With that gone, the Kittty Hawk might even get replaced by the George Bush
I think that LHD/LHA should be included, After all they are not that much difrent from the other VSTOL/Rotor carriers arround the World, like the Garibaldie,… .
The only reason that the US does not clasefie them as Carriers is that a in threre view a Carrier has to have fixed wings & certain Stuff (compared to the SC I wouldn’t call them carrier eather).
But in compartion the the rest of the world I would say that there is more then one country that would whish to have a carrier like that.
Computers can simulate a lot, but even simulations are based on real life information geathering & even after that they can’t simulate everything up to 100%.
IMO she had a decent death, better then to be dismanteled & sold as junk.
Still, I would realy love to see some pics during the CV sinking process, or impacts.
Up to now the USN has not released any pics (waiting for them my selfe).
The America was not sunk to form an artifitial refe, but in order to get life fire data from difrent explotions test (torpedo, missiles, interiior explotions,…).
The data gained is going to be used on the new CVX 22 program
What about Kazakstan. They are conected to the Caspian Sea which is not a minor lake.
Yesterday the O’Higgins, the 1st of the Scorpene Submarines, entered oficialy service in the Chilean Navy
Hey, it is just logic.
The last carriers have all be named after Presidents, the last 2 ones after the letest elected ones.
Why shouldn?t there be a Democrat carrier?
I mean how hilarious would it be if the USS BIll Clinton is sent to bomb some country 😉
The new carrier will be named Bill Clinton of course 😉
There will no F-14s be sold.
Not becopuse they would’t be wanted, but becouse they are to expensive to mantain & there is no way to make spare part (congress ordered the destruction of the machinery that produced the pasrts of the F-14s. So the only way to get new spare parts would be to sloughter constantly the F-14s in AMRAC.
