I don’t know why you keep bringing this up. it is some past things they made that were very simpler in R&D and supply chain.

No JSR you can’t change your tune now, you were wrong and back peddling won’t change that. You were stating clearly that the Czech republic has no experience with engines and transmissions. Not only that you were effectively saying it was almost totally not industrialised. You have been shown to be wrong in all respects, the Czech republic is a very well established industrial nation. It is well known that Tatra has struggled over the years as your Google-fu attempt shows, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are producing engines and transmissions now. Also I notice you studiously avoid talking about Czech success in the automotive industry or Skoda heavy. Inconvenient for your narrative that isn’t it. Now we can argue the toss over the influence of Soviet era R&D but the fact is the Czech republic is a major exporter of equipment right now.

Oh the fun of showing up JSR and his Myopic world view.

Now back in the sane world, one thing I have pondered about South Korea is despite its increasingly advanced defence industry (in certain areas at the cutting edge now) I have seen little evidence of any air to air missile development. I would of thought it would of been an area that they would be keen on a sovereign capability. It would also make the T-50 more attractive on the international market.

It does not change the fact for L159 majority of critical components would have been imported. this make deal difficult to implement. which Fedykin failed to grasp in beginning in previous thread. the same thing could happen to T-50 deal down the road.
In Auto manufacturing Engine/transmission is the most important tech. headlights/window screens these are secondary things.

Don’t know who this Fedykin is, you on the other hand haven’t got a clue about anything.

By the way the Czech republic is famous for engines and transmissions as well. Skoda, Skoda Heavy (ship engines/transmissions) and Tatra just name a few all do it. As for the L159 critical components as you say, none were on any form of restricted list in respect of Iraq as far as I am aware. Sorry I realise these are things that can be difficult for you to grasp with your myopic RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA world view.

Tempest414 you have touched upon something I was thinking about in the T-50 deal, how much infrastructure work is involved? Does it include rebuilding base/bases to host the new type? New flight lines, new hangers, new training facilities including, new classrooms, simulators and even new housing for the personnel. What is the level of local maintenance? Will the Koreans have to set up a local maintenance facility and train people to use it. Is the deal similar to the Indian Hawk contract with Iraqi trainee pilots going to South Korea for training until the facilities and aircraft are up and running in Iraq? Will there be ROKAF instructor pilots in Iraq helping to induct the type and the associated training program?

Just defending your honour dude 😀

Shame about the L159 deal, but I think the Iraqi’s have to be commended for their strong line on value for money and open procurement.

I do love those Tatra air cooled V8:

Czech was in no position to implement that deal alone.i predicted on first day of difficulty in implementing that deal. Czech hardly consider a industrialized nation in modern terms.

I know it suits your RUSSIA IS BEST fantasies that any nation that was once under the Soviet sphere must be some form of economic basket case but YOU are just plain wrong on this. I have one name to say “Skoda” stick that in your pipe and smoke it.The Czech republic has a very good industrial base. A case in point Skoda (heavy industries not the car maker) is selling multi axis CNC to Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Hardly the sign of an un-industrialised nation when they are selling precision equipment to one of the most high tech industrialised countries on the planet. Here is a Skoda UFK 1000 in the Kawasaki plant:

OR how about this turbine production facility:

Or how about these ship crank shafts:

How about Aero Vodochody, this video clearly shows all the different aircraft they assemble parts for:

The Czech republic is famed for its heavy industry and technical R&D, there are members of this forum who are Czech I am in no doubt they would be highly insulted with your attitude to their nation.

LM cant built Iraki F-16 fast enough. F-16 sales are near the tail end. so it is getting more expensive with reduced production rate.
There are far less restrictions on Turkish and Israeli F-16s. which are mostly delivered as aid but Iraki ones paid for has more restrictions.

sheytanelkebir has given you the reason for the pace of F-16 deliveries to Iraq, Money pure and simple. Iraq was only going to get them when the money was stumped up. We have an actual Iraqi citizen pointing out that the delivery schedule/delays are down to themselves and nothing to do with LM. Put a different record on you are making yourself sound stupid.

Maybe LM are going to pull some form of AESA out of the hat then. Until we see the full details of the agreement we need to be a bit cautious.

I would hope the Iraqi mindef would of learnt their lesson and negotiated a good deal.

Then my gut feeling is they will have the AN/APG-67.

My theory is correct. there is no L159. Czech republic cannot implement that deal without support from other countries. BAE cannot even think of Hawk trainer.

So you admit it is a theory, well I suppose that is progress for you. The Czech could of implemented the deal, they are a major industrialised nation. In the end it was stopped for money reasons.

It is not about Iraqi parliament. look at LM. it is taking more than 5 years to deliver a standard F-16 (slowest implementation in history of F-16)and there will be severe restrictions on its use. F50 has many parts like engine for US. it may be designate as trainer so it can fly under radar. It can still be blocked as GE has a lot more business to other Arab countries and SK is totally depended on LNG imports which Iraq cannot produce.

Ahhhhh back to that old idea, the LM can’t build F-16 fast enough. This despite the aircraft being in full production on a line that has repeatedly proven its ability to service contracts. The customer works with LM to work out the F-16 delivery schedule, so far there have been no significant issues and the pilots are in training ready for the initial delivery. Whilst some might not like it US restrictions on capabilities it is not unusual. Then off to your usual fantasy economics.

Never mind at least you have made one small step to admitting you have no knowledge about what your talking about. We are making progress.

I would be surprised if any changes would involve the engine, that would require plenty of qualification work and the F404 in its current guise is perfect for the T50. The recent work put into the engine for various customers give a highly reliable and easy to maintain engine.

If it is anything then maybe the radar and weapons package could be looked at, I am not sure what precision munitions South Korea are offering. An Israeli radar would surprise me, how much do they want AESA? AN/APG-67 is a good radar but if the price is high I understand the desire for something different. How about the Selex Grifo-E.

L159 was dead on arrival. Remember the debate last year on Iraqi helicopter thread. you were so sure about L159 and Irak.
it remain to be seen how Skorea can fulfill this deal with armed version.

Nope our debate in respect of the L159 was related to your assumption that it was not suitable as a LIFT for the F-16 which it very much is and your theory that European nations won’t sell defence articles to Iraq.

We all chuckled at your ignorance and moved on.

As sheytanelkebir has pointed out the Iraqi parliament is not taking any behind closed doors negotiations nonsense from the Prime Minister or Defence Minister. That is what stopped the Russian defence deal, I remember the amount of time you wasted trying to prove that behind closed door negotiations was alright with Russia and we all laughed when the deal was stopped and proper negotiations ordered. Technically the L159 deal hasn’t been cancelled but it is pretty much dead, I am impressed with the firm oversight the Iraqi parliament is giving and if that means the L159 deal had to be stopped good for them. Doesn’t make the L159 a bad aircraft as you seem to think.

As I said at the time what Iraq buy is not too much of an issue for me but pointing out your lack of knowledge is amusing.

I think this is only the beginning, South Korea makes plenty of equipment that would be very attractive to Iraq from APC to Corvettes.

Well L159 deal is dead then.

T50 will be a nice LIFT for the F16 with a secondary combat capability. Impressed that Iraq is going for a modern up to date type.

Of course the thorny issue is the Mi-17 is the best suited medium lift helicopter for the ANA. It was even designed for Afghan operations in the first place.
