Thanks for the pic Mark.
I wasn’t sure if it was a current shot or an archive one.
As Ant points out, the colour of his Flying suit is like the Breitlings one and the way the shadow falls on his oxygen mask & helmet makes it look like that funny looking one he wears now!
Anyway a timeless shot of the ‘Master’.
Cheers
Paul
Somewhere in the Bradford archives!
Quite a few on slides as I recall, most notably Old Warden and the Duxford 1988 Spit display.
Plenty of Spits & Buchon’s in Piece Of Cake colours as I seem to remember. 😉
I’ll dig some out and scan them if you like.
Cheers
Paul
Moggy,
I caught the report about halfway through and wasn’t exactly sure what she was aiming to achieve.
Funny, how just a few hours before the report went out, we hear via this forum that someone is allegedly sending an undercover reporter to try and expose the Operators of ex Military Jets:

If you look just behind the throttle lever in your pic you can see a ring.
As Bruce says, on later aircraft the ICO was a lever on the Throttle quadrant.
You can see it more clearly on this picture posted in the Breitling Cockpit thread by Steve Young.
I’ll Have to dig it out but I have a Quicktime 360 motion picture of 434’s cockpit and I recall seeing both.
The 1977 Documentry “Spitfire” features 434 being flown by Neil Williams at the end.
During the cockpit check you can see it has the later style lever installed.

Oh and another thing that puzzles me with 434’s cockpit.
According to the PN’s for the Spit IX, it says that early LFIX’s have a ring for the idle cut off control (Slow Running cut out on early Merlin installations) and that later versions had the Lever.
But unless I’am mistaken, 434 seems to have both!
Anyone throw any light on this?
Cheers
Paul
Daz, I noticed that too in a photo of 434’s cockpit a while back.
Strangely enough, AR213 had the later cannon button.
I don’t know if they are replacing it during the rebuild but maybe they could do a swap! 😉

Paul
*******s!
Done.
Also added comments in the box.
Having witnessed this sort of thing on my doorstep, albeit on a much smaller scale, these developers don’t give two hoots about the impact on the local area and any histroical significance that their propsed building site might have. 😡
Just hope the plans to turn Dunsfold into a civil airport go ahead.
I’d hate to see that turned back into fields, or god forbid, a housing site..

Paul
Many thanks Laurie.
Thats just what I need! 🙂
No probs with the missing stuff. I have enough info to fill in the pieces and can update and correct later on.
As for the Wing Twist it’s, also known as washout but I’m guessing the Lanc didn’t have any.
I’ve seen those RAF Museum Publication Manuals advertised. Look very useful for this kind of thing!
Once again many thanks.
Paul
Yeah, stumped me too!

Thanks for that Mark12.
Great picture.
Hanna Junior must have been the envy of all his friends!
You seem to have quite a collection of archive pictures from that period, most notably your BoB film stuff.
Any other ones like that?
Cheers
Paul
Ray Hanna is an absolute Legend.
I think he & the Breitling’s always go down a treat at Goodwood.
To think he is still doing what he loves is wonderful.
I remember as a kid there was always something about the Hanna’s that struck a chord.
I think it was the Father & Son thing. I mean, what a way to spend your weekends, flying High Performance Piston classics with each other at airshows, keeping them in the public eye.
And that’s something I always liked.
They always seemed to appear on TV at sometime! I recently found an old clip from a 1985 ‘Jim’ll Fix It’ where he took someone up for a ride in their first P40 at North Weald.
Hard to believe that was nearly 20 years ago! 😮

Paul
I wasn’t there but I understand Ray flew the La9 at some stage.
Maybe someone will confirm who flew what.
As I’am just up the road, I did listen on the airband to see if there was anything interesting happening. 😉
Heard Ray & co arrive on Thursday and on Friday heard him during his morning display.
Whatever he was in it had a good radio!
Damm shame they never routed this way. 🙁
Cheers
Paul
I believe it was TD248.

Alexis,
No I didn’t get your email.
I may have deleted it by mistake along with the spam but I’am usually very careful.
I did reply to your post on Avi8 though.
MH434 is a repaint of Paul Rebuffat’s CFS2 SpitIXc that my Dad did. I do plan to release a FS2002/4 package at some time of his Spits and that is one of the repaints that will be included. In fact 434 should feature quite a lot. 😉

Also have a BoB film texture of 434. “Were the hell are you Simon” Hint, Hint. 😉
Macky, I see you found the MB.5. Doesn’t look lie the shiney MDL
though.
Btw, the Rebuffat collection of Spits can be found at Simouthouse.
Cheers
Paul
Macky,
well, it was for CFS2 but worked fine in FS2002. There was also an updated MDL with shine.
I think I got it form the SimOuthouse but they recently had a severe hack and lost a most of their uploads.
However they are back up now and are in the process of restoring their file libary but I’am not sure if it’s been re-uploaded.
Try searching Avsim and Flight Sim.com for it.
It may even be at Simaviation too or NetWings as well.
Cheers
