Thankyou very much,that’s pretty much trebled the information I had about him,I’m looking forward to getting his entire record back.
He died in September 1978 not 48.

Thanks I will get the micrometer out and check the gauge,the rivets are about 10mm apart,it’s all made of alloy but surprising strong to try and straighten out,pic to follow when I get to the computer,using the phone now.

Should of read the whole post,it’s the iss fury I have pics of.

I’ve got a few pics of it on a drops rack at shiaba 2005/6 and a extra tail section,will put them up when I get to the computer.

There was a Grand slam minus tail section at boscombe down that I was told was used for load testing cranes/lifting equipment.

The blocks are 6ft at the base tapering to 4ft 5ft wide at the base with a large 3in steel loop out of the top and one from the side(pics will show better later)ours have been moved into position post war to form a perimeter to this dispersal possibly collected from across the whole airfield?

The pan is 130ft across the clearest eg measurable slab is 13x21ft,the tie down blocks are 10000kg+ not 5000,pics ltr when I get back to the computer.
