JF 17 has no composites… its a steel can made with 2″ rolled homogeneous steel armor.
Generation zwei comes with DU armour.
rupee is falling down
Not equal to “sky is falling down”
provided the F-22 stays close enough to the target which would get dangerous of being detected and attacked. might it be easier to have a nearby friendly AWAC provide updates to AMRAAMs?
also, suppose Thunder gets armed with PL-10 IIR air to air missiles which are sort of like AIM-9X, could it fire PL-10s guided by its MAWS as a sort of CIWS at incoming AIM-120Cs that manage to get through the jamming process? PL-10 has a 90 degrees off boresight, can lock on targets after being fired and is extremely agile
Dear Ocean Boy,
What would you do without the cnair.top.81 web resources on Chinese aviation? because that is where the first google search leads you (besides wikipedia), besides that article is basically a rip off of ASRAAM wiki entry :diablo:
With reduced EM & IR signatures being latest fashion, having an optical seeker is a good idea.
I think the russians have been looking into the idea of having a booster that will drop off when it’s done it’s work before this, a very good idea since this missile will be very hard to dodge even at BVR. In effect the booster fling a WVR missile to BVR ranges.
It still can’t compete with Meteor on range, but will dramatically improve lethality over AMRAAM.
Not just the Russians. There was an interim ERAAM proposal by Raytheon (Aim 120C8 iirc), by adding a booster to Aim-120c7. Supposedly DRDO’s Astra-2 is also dual pulse.
From Mr. Ajai Shukla, Delays for Indian FGFA
http://ajaishukla.blogspot.de/2012/05/delays-challenges-for-indo-russian_16.htmlIts too far out, till the end of the decade 🙁 .
$100m target may not be achievable in 2020.
Posted it in the last page. You have to follow Ajai Shukla for a while to sieve off useful info from his articles.
maybe s’thing about India economy declining rapidly in the last 2 years…
It hasn’t ‘declined’, it isn’t growing just as fast as expected.
According to Dr Saraswat, Akash SAM might have 3 production lines (one BDL and two pvt) to fulfill the huge order backlog (at the end of the video)
Ah yes, its supposed to land on the carrier on its first flight and also dance like a ballerina…
pleeeeeeeeease, Thunder’s UV band MAWS can find AIM-120Cs as easily as a hawk can find rabbits, then boom AIM-120Cs PD radars jammed 😀
Boom goes the thunder because Aim-120 has had a home on jam capability for quite some time 😉
JF-17 is far more advanced than any 1980s plane F-22 was designed to take off, but be my guest 😎
In what way ?
I issue a challenge for F-22s to go to Pakistan and have a friendly duke-it-out with Thunder jets 😀 to be fair, JF-17s would not have the support of Erieye and Karakoram Eagle AWACs which have long range AESA radars
do PAF F-16 Block 52+ have MAWS?
I issue you a challenge to read a little more into military aviation both from the designer’s perspective (American, European, Russian, Chinese) and operator’s. If you ask nicely, other members will happily provide you the links.
F-22 only has three things that JF-17 lacks: internal weapons bays, radar absorbing paint and AESA. the first two are a pain to maintain 😀 as for AESA, Thunder is getting it just like Super Hornet is replacing its PD radar with an AESA, and is further getting an IRST that F-22 lacks
…. the most advanced passive sensing capabilities, low thermal signature engines, a highly encrypted low power high speed LPI datalink, over 30 antennas blended smoothly into the skin, narrow band interleave search and track capabilities from its passive sensors.
DoD takes LM’s words for granted FACT is F-117 claimed by LM to be stealth and was shot down by 1960s SAM

As someone said, there are a few people on this planet who can reasonably estimate the RCS by looking at an airframe. You are clearly not one of them. Despite the best efforts of some members here you still fail to understand even a single aspect of military aviation beyond what wikipedia tells you. Please lurk around more, try to learn a little more and stop acting like a troll.
it is 5th generation in the sense that it is the first 21st century jet followed by J-10B, J-20 and F-35
Although the definitions of generations are not absolute, this must be the single most ridiculous definition of generations, ever.
It’s out and about.

Not bad, but grey would be better.
I wish they didn’t overdo the colour.
It seems all the technologies for A5 was validated in A4 and then it was scaled up for Agni-5
I think that was made clear just after A-IV test.
JF-17 and J-10 use the same tech

No. Prove me wrong.
