Will be the easiest way to do it, otherwise they may have to open a competition which will take hundreds of years
The original contract had provisions fro 3 more orders. No competition was needed.
If, this is a big “if”.
Are they telling the truth ? Or, are they hyping up their aircraft and their radar against a competitor with this unverifiable claim (a regular occurance with Eurofighter) ?
…because we all know that the true capabilities can be established only if its from unnamed “industry sources” or anonymous AdlA pilots and each and every one of EF GmbH’s claims is a lie and every single one of their development plan is a scam, no nation will ever buy EF without bribes and Dassault is a victim of global conspiracy to kill french aviation industry and Rafale is the front runner in all competitions and its upto 60% cheaper than EF …. :diablo:
Don’t get me wrong, I like Rafale as much as EF and i do believe it is the front runner today. Its just that a lot of Rafale fans go overboard with emotions most of the times in deploring EF consortium π
They knew too well that it would’ve been ready by 2012 and more than likely to be cheaper too at this rate. (Remember, the US DoD really, really don’t like LM boasting the $65 million figure for the F-35 which suggests it’s going to cost way more than that). I reckon LM spoon fed the Australian government this nonsense from the beginning. They bitten, LM got the sale.
IMO it still is a logical choice to go with the Typhoon. If only the Ozzie government woke up. And lets also be honest, they’ll certainly have a hell of a lot more freedom with the Typhoon than they will with the F-35.
(Of course certain F-35 supporters are going to disagree & claim it’s superior in everyway possible blah blah…)
You never know what might happen in the end.
Don’t let Spudman hear you π His patience with regards to the F-35 program will wear you out π
Naiice. Still doesn’t feature serration on panels, but i hope that comes with later prototypes.

This bird deserved to see a production run. Though not as advanced a the raptor, it would have given EF and Rafale a run for their money.

Nice!
Attack of the clones π
Another twist in the tale π
Fighter deal suspense continues
The MoD, on Friday last, opened the commercial bids of the two contenders clearing way for further negotiations before it announces the lowest bidder. According to well-placed sources, EADS, which is promoting the more advanced and thereby more expensive aircraft is said to have quoted a lower price βunit flyaway cost.β
IAF will add two more Israeli AWACS to its fleet
NEW DELHI: India will order another two advanced Israeli Phalcon AWACS (airborne warning and control systems), or the “formidable eyes in the sky” capable of detecting hostile aircraft, cruise missiles and other incoming aerial threat far before ground-based radars at a cost of over $800 million soon.
Top defence ministry sources say the “draft contract” for the two new AWACS “is now finally in the final stages of being examined” before it’s inked as a follow-on order to the $1.1-billion tripartite agreement among India, Israel and Russia in 2004, under which IAF inducted three Phalcon AWACS in 2009-10.
These would most likely be mounted on Il-76, right ?
actually, when he talks about 2 bribery scandals, it’s about the Typhoon alone (the two sales outside the partner nations), which is a way of sorts to disqualify the “exports” of the Typhoon as an argument of quality
So either Dassault didn’t bribe or failed to offer bribes at the levels EF GmbH could afford. Sucks to be a Dassault shareholder in either case.
Can’t India just build their own light helicopters? isn’t that what the Dhruv was designed for?
well the Kamov doesnt look like its in the same size category as the Fennec. but the design looks quite flexible
The Indian LUH is a work in progress
Usually, eurofighter fanboys have no qualms with EF’s homemade propaganda or unnamed sources boasting the imaginary exploits and superiority of the Eurofighter against the F-22 or the F-35 or all other aircrafts.
EF’s AtoA claims against F-35 are equally laughable.
But suddenly, post trials leaks from sources close to the IAF and Armasuisse are not credible.
Industry sources /= IAF & Amasuisse
Industry sources is most likely some Dassault sales executive.
and 2 bribery scandals, congrats.
Every major arms corporation in this world has a history of malpractices, including french. Sometimes i wonder if the look on sales executives faces would be the same when they are placed second in financial bids compared to being second in bribe bids. Of course, in either case, its usually the party with losing bid that complains of corruption.
Everytime Rafale and Eurofighter were evaluated by a foreign airforce, Rafale came out on top and proved that it was more capable than Eurofighter.
Not really. One of the articles which declared marginal edge of rafale on EF in swiss competition also mentioned about EF’s edge over rafale in Indian competition. There are several articles that mention EF’s edge in Indian context. So have several articles declared rafale’s edge over EF. The same with MiG-35, Gripen-NG, SH and a few even declare f-16 to be the leading candidate. These articles always mention “industry sources”, “our trusted sources”, “insiders” “officials and test pilots talking off the record”. These are just exercises to retain the shareholder confidence, nothing more nothing less. People who read too much into them and take them as a gospel truth need to carry a bucket of salt along with them.

So now we can see clearer why the unit price was so close to the rafale in the indian bid ! It seems that Dassault is playing it smart and doesn’t feel the need to diminish its margins to win the deal !:)
Too many “Industry source’s” and “industry Insider’s” being quoted in French newspapers. Sometimes i wonder who they are …:rolleyes:
Fresh hurdles in LUH tender.
The prerequisites don’t matter anymore tay. Its just a matter of better deal now.
Cheers.
