    RE: Anyone know the best day f

    supposed to be:

    “Anyone know the best day for traffic at Corfu Airport”

    The airports name is Ioannis Kapodistrias – after a greek politician I believe ?!?! – “A moo point – like a point given by a cow – it doesn’t count for much!!”

    Well I’ve been there about 8 times now, or maybe this year is the 8th cant really remember 🙂 I’ve always flown in and out on a Monday (British Day??) with the airlines Caledonian, some Belgian DC-10 ad-hoc operator (any help???),Ambassador x3, Air 2000 x2 and JMC. We are infact travelling on JMC again this year. Strangely all flights (except the 1 DC-10) have been 757200 operated, as is this years JMC so I am led to believe

    Greekdude, I’m going to be on Corfu from 29th July onwards for a fortnight. I hope to spend another day at the airport like I did last year;
    caught site of some Moanrch 757’s, Air 2000 A321’s, A Russian TU-154, both of Excels 767s at the same time and about 5 JMC aircraft!

    As well as Aegean Bae146 and a Futura 737-800!

    Cheers, good to know the aircrafts going to be a 757200, would have prefered a -300 but cant have everything 🙁

    RE: Landing on water

    yeh, they ran out of fuel..

    Its funny this topics arisen, I was jsut looking through some safety cards earlier today and wondered if the illustrations on them could actually be a good representation of what would happen if such an aircraft landed on water.

    Anyone know of good days for traffic at Stansted? I’m a slight charter freak so the busier the better!!!

    RE: EZY737 makes “precautionary landing” at EGNT t

    More info from easyjet.com:

    easyJet flight 868 Glasgow-Amsterdam

    easyJet flight 868 diverted to Newcastle this morning after a member of crew reported evidence of smoke emanating from a waste-bin in the rear galley area.

    The cabin crew opened the bin (which has a spring lid) and discharged a fire extinguisher into the bin. Once this was undertaken, no further smoke was seen coming from the bin.

    The Captain followed the standard operating procedures and the aircraft made a precautionary (not an emergency) landing at Newcastle. Once landed, the Newcastle Airport Fire Services boarded the aircraft with all the passengers still in place and declared that there were no “hot spots” in the rear galley area.

    An initial investigation has shown no evidence of any burning or fire in the isolated area. Dry ice bags have been found in the metal waste-bin container, which may prove to be the cause of the ‘smoke’.

    Further investigations are being conducted. The aircraft is currently out of service. A stand-by aircraft has been sent from Luton to enable the passengers to continue their journey.

    Flight details:

    Flight EZY868 Glasgow – Amsterdam
    Aircraft G-EZYB
    134 passengers and 4 crew on board
    Departed Glasgow at 07.24. Scheduled time of arrival at Amsterdam 08.24
    Time of incident 08.10

    RE: TransJet

    lol be careful T5 – people have been shot for saying better.

    Yeah I read something else in the mirror this week, about passengers REFUSING to board the aircraft for the return flight of their holiday (remember the Excalibur DC-10 incident at Manchester/Orlando anyone?).

    I know that last summer, Transjet operated flights on Excel Airways’ behalf – but with the extra capacity in the form of an additional to 738s this summer (one bought, one leased from Miami Air) it may not be flying for them this year.

    Could this MD-8X not be gap-filling on the odd flight for charter airlines on ad-hoc basis, say if one of their aircraft goes tech??

    RE: Top Telly

    yeah there was whole series of them, right?

    I can vaguely remember the series on channel 4;
    TWA Flight 800
    Pan Am / KLM 747 smash in Tenerife in the 70’s
    the Delta L1011 that crashed into water tanks in the states after being struck by windsheer and another about the Air Inter A320 crash into some mountains ?!?!?!

    Was a good series, even though crashes make me depressed and anxious :-s
